PKM is the shiznit. I headshot people all the time, though the first 5 bullets may miss. Spam grenades. You have infinite grenades!!! Also run around with a spec ops or whoever else. Infinite ammo = good. Works well with AT also.

Ask Habo3 he frequents these boards, also Im ranked in the top 250 for support and top 40 for kills with a LMG.
Unlimited ammo, means no runinng around like an idiot spoaming "need ammo" while you have to use a pistol..this will happen since no one seems to ever play support. Also unlimited grenades, find a spot and spam! And in the blackhawk prepare to get a million team points ass your Engy spams mines, spec ops spams C4 and some else is spamming grnade..dare I say GHETTO BOMBER!

My only advice, dont expect to be succesful on non-urban maps. If you like getting muti kills with bullets, support is the class to be..no other gun (beside the noob toob) is gonna take a whole squad in an alley. Anything over 20ft away, use your iron sights. dont just place the crosshairs in one spot and shoot, dance the crosshairs around the enmy, tight circles or up and down. Any support gun besides PKM is kinda like a pee shooter with tons of shots, there more accurate and faster firing, but caculate there poor accuracy compared to other guns and your die more likely...give me the PKM with worse fire rate and accuracy, that way it takes fewer shots to land to kill.... theres more..but i gotta poop so I cant typoe much more atm.

WHen ur support, ALWAYS go prone and put up iron sights unless they're at point blank. Try NOT to use teh SAW or the Type 95, and get the MG36, it is at least IMO the best LMG. Always go prone, don't burst fire, it doesn't help, after two rounds in full auto are fired, the thing is already at the maximum dev cone, so bursting don't help at all. Once u are good with support, u can easily take out guys at around 25-75 m away.

Wait till you get the PKM. It's way more accurate and powerful. Has the lowest ammo(100) but you have ammo bags. Go prone and in bursts. If you do it right and you find like a squad of 6 guys coming at you in an alley way...12 points earned in a couple seconds.

The PKM has the same accuracy as the RPK-74, also, don't burst, u have unlimited ammo for a reason, bursting won't improve accuracy, unless ur using the Type 95/SAW and ur 2 round bursting, or for the PKM/RPK/MG36 i guess u could call it a 1 round burst, i already explained before, after a set number of shots, the deviation wll no longer be added when ur goin full auto.

Also, I noticed someone said the RPK-74 did the same amount of damage as the PKM. IT DOESN'T. Just had to clear that up.

But I recently started playing as support and it takes a while to get used to, but experienced Support players can deal a big blow against the enemy.

-Like many others have stated: Go Prone!
-Don't be shy on ammo. You have alot. and by alot, I mean unlimited
-Provide covering fire for your advancing team, keep the enemy pinned down behind that wall/object.
-Unless you're using a mounted MG, only use it for Close-Medium ranges.
-If you ARE using a mounted MG, make sure to use it to it's full potential! (Fire constantly in bursts. You have INFINITE ammo, and you only have to worry about overheating)
-If you have a UAV up, and there's an enemy somewhere behind a tin or wooden fence, spray that area. Your bullets should go through
-You can break those boarded up areas by firing them alot
-If in an urban map, cover allyways (I got 6 kills pretty much instantainiously by doing this at one point)
-Note: All LMGs have their ups and downs. All I can say is don't underestimate the M249 SAW or chinese equivalent. Rate of fire with that thing is killer, as well as it's magazine capacity

As for the RPK74 take that over PKM because it has the same damage as pkm and has higher accuracy.

RPK has the same accuracy, less damage per hit, but more damage per second. SAW is probably the best LMG in CQC because it has the highest damage per second (along with Type 95) and the most ammo but the lowest accuracy (along with Type 95).

The only reason to burst fire is to prevent overheating or to control recoil. As said earlier, deviation is maxed out after 3-4 shots. The time to let the gun settle is better used to spit out a few more rounds.

Yes, I think LMGs are probably the most balanced weapons in the game. They run from high accuracy/low damage per sec to low accuracy/high damage per sec: MG36/PKM/RPK74/SAW+Type95. They also each have their own extra perks (SAW has higher ammo, MG36 does more damage before overheating, Type95 is quicker to draw, etc.).

The unlocks are overrated, the best support gun is the M249, and PKM / MG36 are both tied because one of them has fast firerate, other man slaughtering super power (People Killing Machine anyone?).

The reason you should play support: THERE AREN'T ENOUGH OF THEM! Some guys might need ammo, but the whole team is running around in chaos as Assault or Spec.

Ya, play as support, then ur team can get the ammo they need, also, since they need so much ammo, u get TONS of points for giving ammo.

Well thx for the tips.. but I have the PKM and I allways shoot prone.
Gonna try to acc with and without bursting, i allways burst though,,
Must learn how to think support :)
