  • EA Key Auth Servers Back online!

it has been a while since EA has disabled the Key Auth from BF2 Keyservers.
Annoying people flooded the ranked servers, where normally, only legal players could play.

today 28-1-2006 im happy to say the Keyservers are UP again :P

is this a sign that the new patch is coming?

For the past few weeks, anyone with a warez version of BF2 was albe to play on ranked servers because there was no cdkey check in place.

Does this mean everyone with patch problems can't play again too?

This does make me think of something though. How long does it take for the server to send a key request, find the key, send the key, check the key, send a confirmation to the serve, send a "go code" to your computer then let you play.

Its already quite a long wait duering the varifying data screen.

the AUTH is done on the GAMESERVER.
it's querying the gamespy master server when you join that server.

so how long would that take?
ofcourse it depends on the quality of your connection, but it almost never exceeds half a second. many times, the gameserver is on a fat connection which actually should handle these sends/requests in a jiffy.

there only a few bytes exchanged, nothing to worry about since about all EA games use this security method since day one.
