What hasn't been clarified however, is whether one has to get promoted to a new rank (obviously Lance Corporal / Corporal and above) first to be able to unlock these new weapons?

You see, I've just been promoted to First Sergeant and received 2 unlocks as a result. Do I need to keep these for the new weapons, as I won't be being promoted again in a while, or will the patch bring an extra two free unlocks? My predicament is if I were to spend my current 2 unlocks on existing weapons and there's then no free unlocks with the patch, then I'd have to wait till I reached my next rank of Sergeant Major (50,000) and that's going to take me nearly 6-8 months at my current rate....

I agree ptegan, the DAO suits my style of play with the AT kit - which is dealing with vehicles and infantry long range with the AT missile and pistol and capping/defending flags close range with the shotgun.

I find there's nothing more satisfying than getting shotgun kills and when you can use the DAO to effectively take down 2-3 close range enemies round a flag, and it's difficult to see where the new P90 will improve on this? It may offer some medium range ability, which is one area where the AT kit struggles, but then the improvement to the smgs in 1.2 might already cover this.

Don't forget the 50 round clip.

You will get the unlocks for SF owners at Lance Corporal and Corporal.

I have been wondering about this for a while now. Have DICE programmed the new patch to check your SF key, and deny the weapons to those people who got their friends to unlock the new guns ?

I'm not even sure if this is possible, but I'm just curious. I doubt EA likes the idea of people getting the new stuff without paying for it.
