    Lag

The worst enemy in BF2. Has any1 else seen lag on the carrier? I rarely ever see lag unless i'm on the carrier. Now i've done all the basic stuff, like turned all graphics to medium then low. My computer is top end with a AMD 64 3400, 1gig of ram, Nvidia 6600 graphics card. The only thing I haven't messed with is my refresh rate yet but not sure what is good. Right now it sets at 60hertz. Can any1 suggest anything?

    Re: Lag

Lag depends upon the ping, I think. Also, your PC is not "top end". I know a couple of people who have 2 gigs of ram and a 7800 GT with a 4200+, but still they experience some stutters on all high. Are you on cable or DSL? What is your ping. Make sure that the server you play on is close to you (in you country).

      Re: Lag

Yeah ping is an important factor as well as your overall connection and the connections of other people on the server. Where the server your on is in the world can affect lag. If you're playing on a European server and you're in California (for example) then you're gonna get lag. Make sure your firewall is off and virusscan is off. Punkbuster trying to update itself can cause lag, manaully update it from the pb folder or go to their website and follow the manual update directions. pb_system 1 and pb_sleep 500 also helps prevent pb lag so I've heard but it doesn't help me. If you have Norton Virus like me then you're f*cked, there have been reports that Norton Virus scan (even when off) causes lag. I've experienced this before, at one point during the round I'll have 50 ping then Norton does it's stupid autoscan and my ping jumps to 500 and says 'Warning! Connection problems detected!'

        Re: Lag

yeah when i said top end i didn't mean top of the line...there is a difference. i just meant i have over the recommadations. also i play on servers with less then a 100 ping and my ping ave. is about 20 to 30 but the pb update is something i hadn't thought about. i don't have Norton any long cause that was a problem months ago. I have minimial things running by going to task manager and turning things off. Like I said though I only see the lag on the carrier as soon as I leave via jet, helo, or boat it goes away instintly. I just added another gig to my pc and I have seen in the last two servers I was on that there wasn't noticable lag on the carrier.

            Re: Lag

The problems experienced on the Carrier and on Warlord are not lag/network related. They are static mesh related. EA said they would address the static mesh problems in the next patch. Let's hope it's enough.
