Sniper - Hold fire to check doesn't work

I'm not that good as sniper and I want to improve my skills. I've read various posts with tips & tricks etc.

One of the tips was to hold down the fire button whilst in the scope after taking a shot and you'll see where the bullet hits. This does not work for me.

I press the left mouse button to fire, I keep it held down but nothing happens.

Does any one know why this does not work for me?

You will know it's working if your scope stays zoomed in. Confirmed hits give a temporary "X" icon to your crosshair also. I really miss the discordant piano notes from Quake 3.

lol! I expected a different thing to happen. I thought if you keep the fire button held down then you would follow the bullet as it travelled to its target (kind of like a missile view). That way i would be able to see exactly where it hit.

But what you're saying is that the scope won't move after firing if you hold down the fire button and you'll be able to see an 'X' if you hit the target.

I WISH we had such a feature for battlefield, but unforunately we dont. It would be awesome to get a bullet's perspective when sniping.

The way to get lots of kills with the sniper rifle is not to move the sight in 1/3of a second before shooting. Then you will shoot dead on. Following a soldier with the sight will often make you miss even if you have him dead on and make the correct adjustment for bullet travel time. This is the design of the game so you can be a hell of a shot and you will still miss the target since it wont go were your sight is if you dont hold it still.

Yeah, I forgot, learn that you have to aim ahead of the target if its moving far away from you. How much to aim is something you have to practice on. Try singleplayer since the computer always move in a slow and predictible pattern.
