BF2 taking >10 minutes to get past login screen!

So I recently installed BF2 and had BF2 Demo installed in the past. I couldn't uninstall the Demo using the uninstaller, so I just went ahead and installed BF2.

Everything seems ok once I get past the login screen, but that is taking 10 minutes or more! Basicially it appears to time out after I put in my credentials saying that server is too busy or couldn't log into a Play now server.

My question is how can I turn that "feature" off? I just want to log in and pick my own server.

did you install the 1.12 patch? how good is your internet? do you have a firewall?

I'm downloading the patch now. My internet rocks and yes I have a firewall. When I was playing the Demo, it would only take 10 seconds or so to connect so it's proly not internet/network issue.

That damn icon is horrible. I deleted it as soon as I installed BF2.

Agreed...I thought it was to play Internet only and the other was just for single player!
