ok im a noob, but can someone please tell me what the difference is between vanilla maps and regualar maps? and is vanilla maps only in bf2, or can they be in other games (ie are they only a type of map in bf2) and why are they called 'vanilla'?

Vanilla is a term originating from BF1942. It means original.
Eg. Battlefield 2 = Vanilla.
Special Forces = Not Vanilla.
Basically they might be called "For SF map" and that means it is playable only in Special Forces probably because it has vehicles in SF that aren't in Bf2.
Its just a way of identifying and hence the world Vanilla is used. -

Please do a search before you post next time.
Vanilla is a term for the default BF2, Strait-out-of-the-box without any expansions, mods, or anything tweaked of any sort. This term isn't just used for BF2, but for many things in general. People may refer to the base non-GT 6800 as the "vanilla."Comment
