Wake Island Defense

I've found that if you blow the bridges on the tips of the island you can prevent that base from being rushed by vehicles. Then you get to watch idiots try to jump the bridge.:laugh:

It also creates the perfect situation for a sniper as the enemy is vulnerable as they swim across.

Terrible advice because then it's much harder to go back and reclaim those flags when you lose them. If they're defending them, you can't get to other areas you may be needed, such as the airfield.

Well the USMC is always at dissatvantage on that map, so the longer you stall them from taking over the other 3 points or so the better.

I typically just start out at the airfield, do a few runs in the jet and they re capture any bases that are occupied. USMC needs to hold almost the whole map and hold it for the whole game to win. Ive won games with only 2 flags.

I found that spawning and taking the machinegun mounted vehicle (NJ) up on the western penninsula can keep most of the choppers down along with help from the J-10. that coupled with some defense on the eastern tip, and command using arty = teh win.

typically the USMC would deploy via air first then boats for the leftovers, so blowing the bridges aint gonna do much
or then theres the fighting retreat the chinese have to do if thats what you mean?

This is true and alot of times the boats will go out and around to avoid detection as they head up to the North base or the airfield.

if they are trapped there, then just have your army sit on the other side of the bridge and take them out. If they are smart, they will spawn at the carrier and take a hawk over the the other side of the island.

If not, then the tickets count down faster for them.

Getting the US stuck on one of the edges is not a good idea, because all the chinese team will concentrate on that one checkpoint, so a cunning marine can easily swim to the other side of the island, have his squad spawn on him and in no time, they will have 3/4 of the map...

the best china defence is the airbase(strong), the beach and north base, this creates a land buffer zone that usmc ground forces must penetrate to get the airbase, which is essentail to dominating the air. the usmc want to push china off so thier best defence is airbase, beach, and south base. this is because if the enemy is all in one side, but the usmc can attack from the boats/bh or the land. the usmc win condition is keeping china pinned to north village and blowing the bridge.

I agree with roger smith in that holding the airbase is the only thing china really needs to do. It is absolutely vital.

The only real land threat to the airbase comes from the south part of the island so I would focus on holding that. Enemies trying to move in from the north bases will have to cross a long open section in line with the airstrip (you gonna get BOMBED) before going through a tight pass and set of buildings to get at the flag. The south bases on the other hand have forest cover up to the base and can invade along the lower beaches to ruin the chinese airforce and command assets before taking the airfield.
