    Painting textures

So after reading through that ****-poor tutorial EA gives you and searching the forum I've finally figured out how to make something appear when I try to add textures. I found in another thread something about going into Detail Texture rendering mode and that's what made stuff start appearing. Only problem is what comes up sure as hell doesn't look like grass or like sand...

If only BF2Editor was as easy to learn as CoDRadiant...

The render tab is something you should make yourself aquainted with, everthing you work on, has a special render option. Switching modes, to detail texture shows you what the ground will look like, but you can only see detail texture when you are close to the ground. The screenshot you provided is from a very long distance.

For long distance stuff you need to render low detail textures --> check the right side of the editor screen.

Okay cool I can see them when I zoom in close :)

Are you talking about the Generate Low Detailmap button? Because if so, it doesn't do anything when I click on it. Is there anything special I have to do before I click it to make it work?

yes set the low detail texture, just pick the funky purple thing, it is the only one on the list. You have to do this for each layer. A better place to go for map making help is the gotfrag place....
They have a bunch of tutorials etc. and if you use the search button in there you will get lots of hits on things you need to know. Not to deter you from TotalBf2 as this is a fine community, but gotfrag is better for the editor questions you will get.

They have seperate forums for different parts of the editor. I made a pretty good map in 2 weeks with the help of the peeps over there, having no prior mapping experience. :)

If you want to look at the map I just finished making http://www.filecloud.com/files/file....file_id=102377 you can d/l it there.

        Good luck to you.
