    Update on THE DUEL

Yes I realise Im 3 days behind and Im sorry but I've had a very tough time getting a decent encoder, but now I have managed to do so.
The final movie including credits runs at 2:54, without credits it's 2 minutes of the good stuff.

I have Exported the High-Definition version of the movie which looks simply amazing, it totally smashes the quality of absolutely EVERY BF2 movie made so far (In video quality, not actual content, that's up for you to decide). The High Definition version is 85mb but Im re-exporting after fixing a sound issue and I'm not expecting the filesize to change all that much.

This might seem incredibly large but the movie is in 720p HD (In 2.35:1 Widescreen, the same as Cinema Movies, wider than 16:9) and there are virtually NO signs of compression, it almost matches in game visuals.

Also Quicktime HD movie trailers are over 110mb so 84mb is pretty good for 3minutes. So this HD version isnt necassary for people who don't see high video quality as a priority but if you can spare the time to download it will be well worth it.

The screens I posted in the other topic were the same resolution as the HD video but were compressed with JPG so the actual video looks slightly BETTER than those screens.

I have yet to export the small version so I can't comment on filesize for that but it could be around 20-30mb but the video quality wont even come close to the full HD version.

So a final note: This movie is more of a showcase of BattleLauncher's capabilities and how it totally smashes Fraps in video quality but I do hope people like the actual content, I know I do.

Sorry for the delay. Also does anyone know anywhere else I can post the movie once it's out, Im sure there are other BF2 communities that I can share the video with as this one seems pretty small.

No need to apologise for the delay, Neo. No doubt it's the result of your desire to achieve the highest possible quality and that's to be commended.

I'm actually in a position very similar to yours at the moment. I've spent the past week or so working on a little video and now it's just a matter of exporting, encoding and uploading the end result. I made mine with Fraps but the visual quality is not too bad. I'm really keen to see the high definition version of "The Duel" so that I can evaluate the difference.

As for additional BF2 communities, I've been wondering the exact same thing. I suppose an exploration of the links posted here would be the best place to start:

(Incidentally, you somehow manage to appear on every other forum I've checked out, including Machinima.com, ReliantFilms and PlanetBattlefield, so I know you're already familiar with some of the options out there!)

Indeed! I actually played a few rounds against your brother and a few of the other ADF boys a couple of nights ago. The map was Operation Clean Sweep and they were infiltrating the USMC uncappable, working as a squad of snipers. There were a couple of people on my team whining about it, whereas I just hopped into an APC and racked up a lot of easy kills; it was great fun!

Im so sick of this lol, I just can't get everything right, now I have a problem with sound. Also there is a small 2 second segment where the video has a little slow down, It's either my computer or the Codec because it doesn;t appear in Quicktime or in the source files so you may have to put up with that, Im yet to see if that slowdown occurs in the small version.

Ha ha, I'm having problems, too, Neo ...

A couple of export tests have worked perfectly except for one or two random video clips (in amongst the successful portions) where the quality seems slightly degraded, despite the source video in each instance being perfectly okay. Might have to do a re-shoot for those clips.

Seems the last 5% of any creative project requires as much time to complete as the first 95% (if not more). I'm still hoping to get it uploaded by the end of today, though, and I'm still really looking forward to seeing "The Duel."

Other than these minor glitches Im really happy with the way the movie came out, I hope others are too, still exporting another version to see if a sound problem is solved.

Ok, the codec problem is becoming a really annoying issue so I will not say when it's coming anymore just that it's coming soon.

What is exactly the problem, maybe I can help, I've had problems with codecs too.

                          Re: Update on THE DUEL

Just getting it to work right, I have AWESOME video but if I use that video codec (its WMV) I only have 2 or 3 choices for Audio and the audio on gun shots is crackled but the music is fine. But if I use DivX or something the filesize is too big and the quality isn't as good.

I've 'settled' with the WMV version but there are 2 small problems I just can't seem to fix:
                          1. Early in the movie there is slowdown for a few seconds, something I just can't seem to fix, I'm pretty sure its a Windows Media problem because I've had that issue on a video before.
                          2. 2 Gunshots in the movie have small crackels.

They sound kind of bad but they don't really interfere with the movie so my only choice is to release the movie with them in.

I dunno about the first problem, but I know how to fix the second one.

If you are using Premier Pro, right click on the audio file and click on Audio Gain(or something like that) and lower the number or say Normalize.

Also, for my video, Aces of Kubra Dam, I used MPEG 4 Xvid

Well I did lower the Audio Gain and exported it but it failed to fix the problem, I may have to lower it even more but then it has the danger of being to quite, I will give it another try. But the thing is I export the Audio by itself and it sounds fine.
