I just ordered a new card, eVGA Geforce 6800GS 256 pci-e. After I ordered it I saw that it requiers a minimum of a 350w psu, I have a 300w one now. Do I need to get a new one before I install the card or can it wait for a week (next pay day)?

Re: PSU for new card?
get a new one, or your card will either not work, or downclock itself because it does not have enough power. I would just get even just a 400W one, they are like 30 bucks. I HIGHLY recommend it. -

are they generic, any 400w will fit in my case or do I need a specific one?

Re: PSU for new card?
well it has to be the same "type" as your case. Most cases now and days are ATX, so that would be your best bet. But I am not sure, maybe look on the HP website to see if the case is ATX or not.
Did your computer come with that x2 4200+? because if it did, HP shouldnt be putting 300w PSUs in there...Comment
