Removing Trojans

Hello,

For a while now I've been infected with 3 trojan viruses.. every time I do a thorough scan with avast!, these 3 viruses keep showing up.

I've ignored them up until now.. avast! finds them, but the only option it gives me is moving them to the chest.. when I try to delete them, I get an error.

My question is.. how do I get rid of them? Safe mode then deleteing them? How?

Now, I can't reformat, since Dell decided it would be a good idea not to send a WinXP CD with my computer..

Have you tried other AV applications?

It's online and free and it may work for you.

Otherwise, you could try deleting the offending files in Safe Mode, booting up with a Linux LiveCD or Emergency Boot CD to get rid of them.

Update your xp install at the windows update site. Install microsoft's anti-spyware app, it may remove them. Problably won't, but it's worth a shot.

Please be more specific, what are the names of the trojans?

Try calling dell support, they may ship you a os cd for $10.00. Dell sent mine for free.

Some Dell pc's have a hidden hd partition with a restore image on it. Using it you can restore your pc to "out of the box" condition.

CTRL + F11 was the restore shortcut for a long while. Not sure if it is the same on your dell.

Just for future reference my AVG would not remove a few viruses.

But i have heard and out of experience Panda Online scan is very good for removing viruses, and it's free!
