  • I finally got SF running smoothly!!!!!

I have a fairly decent system, 1 gig of ram, AMD 3200+ xp, geForce 6600GT. I've been trying for the life of me to get BF2:SF running as good as BF2 but I could never get it running smooth enough to the point that it was playable. I'm like most of you, I've tried everything and the main reason I search these forums is to find "fixes". Well out of sheer luck i've got BF2:SF finally running as good as BF2. I turned off System Restore on all my drives. It may not work for everyone but it worked wonders for me, try it out and let me know if it helped. Now the only lag I get is when the round starts. I just wish I figured this out 5 months ago.

Everybody should turn it off anyway its a system hog, if you have data you can't lose back it up, if your Windows gets hosed a fresh install is allways best just a pain in the arse.

you can try the modified nvidia drivers from NGO:

i had performance problems with the original nvidia
                  drivers in bf2:sf (@1280x1024),
but with the NGO drivers everything works great now!

Right click "My Computer" -> Properties -> System Restore Tab -> Check "Turn Off System Restore On All Drives"

nice, i like someone who searches after the problem till he finds it. If there were more people like him, forums wouldn't exist :-)
