Question on LCD, can't load BF2

Hi all,

Just receoived a gift form the wife, a ViewSonic 19" LCD. All is set up and the computer looks wonderful, but when I try to load BF2 it goes back to desktop.

Any clues or tips are much appreciated.

ps- I'm trying to run the monitor in it's native 1280x1024, on a Radeon Sapphire X850 XT.

i had the same problem... bf just wouldnt start. a black screen would come up then ppf back to the desktop. i just uninstalled the game. deleted the EA folder. and installed the game again. that fixed it for me.

The samething happened to me when i was instaling BF2 for the 54938329th time due to the messed up patching and i just reinstaled and haven't seen the problem since. I've got a LCD monitor as well but just a lesser card (ati9800).

I have a 17in Viewsonic Va721 with 8ms and runs with no hiccups. I have a 9600xt

1. Open your My Documents folder.
2. Open Battlefield 2\Profiles\Default
3. Delete Video.con
4. Restart BF2

If it still fails you will need to delete the Video.con in the profile BF2 is trying to load (i.e. Battlefield 2\Profiles\001\video.con).

Yeah, a reinstall is all that is needed. For some reason BF2 looks for the old monitor and freaks out when it doesn't find it.

148 is single core. Dual core starts with the 165.
