Does Anyone still use ATI 4.12 drivers with SF? Is the NVG problem present?

    Hi,
I see that the new ATI 6.1 drivers have fixed the NVG bloom or whatever, but I also see some people having problems with them. For a long time, almost every time I upgraded drivers, I went back to the 4.12s because they looked soo much better, and seemed to run smoother. Well, I'm using the 5.13s now, but I'm thinking about going back to the 4.12s. Anyone know if the NVG problems are there or not?

    Thanks

If you have performance problems with the newer drivers, that's probably thanks to the Catalyst Control Centre. ATi only releases their drivers with the CCC now though...

I use the Omega drivers now. They use something called TrayTools instead of the CCC and of course the drivers are tweaked for better performance.

Thanks for the reply. I've been using Omegadrivers for years. I also NEVER use CCC. 4.12 is just better for some reason (a lot of people on Rage3d think so too). The only reason I started using the newer drivers (without CCC), is because I got an X800 GTO (unlocked to 16 pipes), and the 4.12s didn't seem to rcognize it properly. However, the newer drivers only recognize it as an "X800 series" card, so I was thinking about going back to them. I think I'll try it anyway because I don't play on SF maps much anyway.

They all recognize them as X800 series  I have an X800 Pro. It just displays a general listing for you to see.

The CCC 6.1 seems to increase performance with BF2, atleast for me. The annoying NVG bug is fixed also.

I have been keeping the 5.10's because they ran great. I switched to the 6.1& it runs fine. Until 6 months ago I was an Nvidia fan so I am kind of new to the ATI thing. 5.11 ran like crap on my card so I switched back to the 5.10, until I seen that the 6.1 had something to do with BF2. Thought I would try it & it seems great! I have an X850 XT & it sure beat s the hell outta my old Fx5200 lol !!
