its the 1.12 patch most likely. The new patch is devestating some peoples rigs, and slows down performance for many. Hopefully they fix it thats all I can tell ya

totally offtopic, but sackynut do you think they'll have a solution for the flickering textures i've been having ? Because it also started at the 1.12 patch

i got bf2 the day it game out, installed it on my freshly bought 9300 i got for college, and it ran like a dream. 1600x1000 res all high with 45 consistant fps. load times were less than 1 minute for loading and verifying file stages combined. the game looked and ran great. then i got bored with bf2, and college came and i didnt game for awhile. i come back recently, load it up, and guess what, 8 minute load times, and i cant run the game without stuttering at 800x600 res with ALL LOW!. wtf right? so i uninstall, run spywares, delete old programs, kill processes, clear page file, and defrag. i install, defrag, install patch, defrag, and load it up. no change! still runs **** poor. i just dont get it. it ran as well as it ever could the first time i bought it, now its virtually unplayable. any ideas guys? im probably gonna break down and buy another gig of ram, but im curious at why such a drastic drop in performance. i could understand if it took like a 10fps hit, or i had to scale the res down some, but it still isnt smooth at the lowest res and lowest settings. some examples of the problems i have: long load times, constant stuttering through the whole round, low fps. any suggestions? or am i basically screwedddd. any feedback would be apprieciated.

this is just a suggestion,but more of a "did u no aswell"

as you av tryed things like defrag ect i shall not mention them.
but the one thing i noticed which was diffent was youre overclocked card.
the reason i say this is.............
6800go overclocked to 320/720<--youre card obviously
6600gt(not overclocked)500/1000<--my card
now as you can see ive got a higer clock speed on a lower card? but this is the part you may not no about..............
6600gt(not overclocked)500/1000<--my card<---in 3D mode
6600gt(not overclocked)200/500<---2D mode(i.e desktop)
when i load a 3D application my clock speeds increase,nvidia have done this in most cards so youre card has a rest in 2d mode(less heat ect)
i fear that u may have overclocked youre card in 2D mode(overclocked on desktop kinda thing)but when u load a 3d app(game--BF2)
you card clock will increase again(not safe or stable)
you were running a high res with good fps before,i say clock youre card back to its deafult level before you ruin you card.

i found this out when i purchesed my card and checked the clock speeds with riva tuner they were lower(so i contacked the manufacturer)and was told the 200/500 was 2d mode.
then i ran a 3d game (q3 in a window) loaded up riva tuner and my speeds were 500/1000.
hope that makes sense.

i also no there is a chance youre card was already overclocked out the box,but didnt want to wait for you to tell me just incase it was to late.

if all else fails reformat and dont forget youre motherboard drivers(i.e agp driver for mother board)

dont worry blaze, i know the diff between 2d and 3d. the reason why my card has lower clockspeeds is that 1) its a mobile card so its clocked a bit lower than desktop couterparts. 2) higher clockspeed doesnt mean better card, the reason why the 6800 is a higher card is that it has more pipelines and such. having tons of clockspeed but less pipelines is akin to having tons of soda but a tiny straw to suck it with. 3) yours is a gt, so its clocked higher than a regular 6600, if i had a 6800ULTRA, then the clockspeeds would be closer to yours. and btw, i dont think ive ever seen a vid card overclocked in 2d mode.

i agree with the pipeline thing,dont get me wrong i wasnt trying to make a reply saying my card is better cus of clock speeds.

i just wanted to point out that yore clock speed cuaght my eye thats all(being as you stated it was oc)

would like to now how you overclocked it to be sure.
and yes you can force a card to be overclocked in 2d mode (if u dont no what youre doing)some cards come with oc apps others use coolbits or rivaruner ect)

overclocking is a dodgy buisness at the best of times (needs more cooling for a start)and as yours is a moblity(laptop)it could be a liabilaty to overclock it as heat would be harder to manage(i imagine anyways)

like i said i wasnt trying to make a point about how fast my card is!!
just to point out the differnce in 2d/3d clock diffences and to make sure you only overclocked you're card in 3d

well, i downloaded a better defrag program than window's default and pushed bf2 to the start of the HD, and i think that killed the hardware lag. with that and the pagefile disabled, i load much faster. thing is, i still got a problem. i get in the game, and oh boy its pretty and smooth. then every 5 seconds, "there is a problem with ur connection". i manually updated both pbweb in my bf2 folder and ran pbsetup like a goodboy, and my isp isnt the problem since all my other games run fine and this happens when i try playing it at my friends house who has a different isp, and i also disabled my firewall and am NOT playing behind a router. is this just a nuance of the buggy ass game, or is there something i can actually fix. i wanna get all this sorted out before FH2 releases in a few months.

did you go through the dreaded xp install. Its my fixer upper, plus i have to reinstall every thirty days due to my cousin using my Xp cd and he registered it to his hardware, I didnt bother to register and it screwed me over bad.
