    Pausing

Does anyone else experience pausing at the absolute worst times? I always get a good pause at the worst time. Today I was sniping on the hotel on Oman. I was prone. I line up for the shot, miss, and as I reloaded, the guy I shot at takes aim at me from the ground and starts shooting. I start to back up for a bit to get out of his line of fire and to throw a grenade. At that very moment I get a HUGE 5-6 sec pause and of couse I get killed. It was so obsurd as to be obscene.

Also, on the rare ocassions when I get in a jet, just as I dropped down to on a bombing run, PAUSEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, the crash.

I have a 2.5GHz Athlon 64, 1GHz PC3200 ram, and a 6800GT with 256MB. I run the game at 1024x768 at medium detail level. I found any level above that resulted in even more pausing. It's the one thing about this game I absolutely hate. I paid $2000 for my computer a year ago thinking it would run games like this with no problem but I guess not.

      Re: Pausing

I have the same problem with my computer: 2Gigs of RAM, 256mb nVidia, 3.4GHz P4...

It's the game, not you. I have absolutely no problem with any other game, and often run 600fps+ in CoD2, AA, CoD, BF:V....

        Re: Pausing

I hate that. It is the worse for me right when I start a round or game because it's still loading I guess and it is horrible when you try to get to a spawn before anyone else to get it. It works it self out unless its like super lag then I will lose the connection anyways.

Ping rate, make shure its like 50 or less. Make shure ure not using sny of your connection when u play, when someone uses the other comp online i start laggin a bit. I usually play with a ping of like 9 lol, and never get lag (that annoying pause)

Open the necessary ports on your firewall - they're in the back of the manual.

lol, why does everyone constantly say more ram! lol...it may not be the size that matters in this, its the quality. If u get some cheap brand like K-Byte, Ultra or anything else tiger direct has sales for, you are gonna have graphical lag.

Get better ram, if u have a gig its plenty enough. Get OCZ, PNY, etc...the big names.

also, try keeping background tasks to a minimum. Control+Shift+Delete then right click on BF2 (while game is running) and set the proirity to High. That may help as well.

But its not always more ram people....there are many many reasons for this to happen. Virtual memory could be a culprit too. I say ditch the value ram and go for quality stuff even if its $50 more.

I have a less worser variant on that i like to call it the '1MS-LAG' mostly when i fly a mec airplane (never the USMC strange...) when i fly straight at a tree (i do know how to pull up) i pull up. then it happens... i see myself pulling up. suddenly my screen flashes back to the tree. I crash. and then i see myself (broken and smokin') flying in the same orbit that i started pulling up

--> i confirm that setting BF2.EXE to high helps a lot. (works great with the musicplayer combo ... sow i like to hear some 'relaxing' music when i kill sum1)

Err this helps sooo much, but make shure to NEVER put to real time. If u do anything else itll lock up easily.

Yeah I used to get packetloss with my wireless, then I just pulled a random LAN cable out from somewhere (I honestly don't know where I got the thing from) and now I have no problems. Apart from at random periods my internet just stops working and I have to disable then reenable it.
