    Joystick Setup

Hey guys. I just bought a joystick, it's a Logitech Freedom 2.4 Cordless Joystick.

I was wondering if any one with the same joystick could tell me a good set up to use.

    Thanks.

logitech joystick? *cringe* I don't have a logitech joystick, thank god. One thing I will say make sure you keep the receipt.

by setup are you referring to button configuration? that will differ from person to person, I have an x52 (loads of buttons) I have a button for everything from bombs to and eject button for BF2.

What's wrong with a Logitech Joystick? Don't be so arrogant.

I don't have much room on my desk so I couldn't go for anything too big. Also, i'm not prepared to pay that much for the x52. It's seems quite pricey.

The one I have looks promising though.

Logitech have a tendency to break after a while that's all.

Because many (almost all) Logitech joysticks have a faulty potentiometer which casues the joystick to lose calibration. And this makes it very hard to fly good.

I've had several Logitech sticks and all but one worked great and lasted a very long time.

I have the same as you t3d_d0n. I haven't figured to use the HAT switch yet for the Commo Rose but this is what I have done....

              Button 1: Primary Fire
              Button 2: Secordary Fire
              HAT Switch: Views
              Throttle: Throttle
Buttons around HAT: Map, Spawn Board, Score Board, Push to Talk to Squad
Buttons next to Throttle: Flares, Afterburners, Toggle between Bombs and Missiles, Push to Talk to Commander/Squads, Enter/Exit.

If anyone knows how to use the HAt for the Commo Rose, speak up

              Hope it helps :)

Did you use a seperate program for the button config. BF2 is easyer to just configure it in-game (options).

                      Re: Joystick Setup

I've found that configuring within BF2 works better than using Logitech's program.

I find it really hard to use in a helicopter, is that just me or do other people find it hard too?

No, it's easy. Well, it is for me :p

Basically, map everything you'll need. Use the Twist for your Yawing (Rudder), when you want to turn sharply, decrease your speed then turn, then increase and you're off again

I use all CH controllers and, as you say, it is easier and tempting to program in-game. However, I always try to leave game file alone and just program my controller map. That way, I can save (and backup) the small map file very easily. Saves a lot of time when you have to re-install game for whatever reason. Just reload your map file and you're done.

Plus, when time for a new game (assuming similar games), such as when migrating from BF1942 to BF2, the old controller map file worked perfectly.
