Sprites in maps

Are there any ways to add custom sprites permentely in BF2 maps. It is possible in 1.6, however, you have to use a map decompiler. If this is also true for BF2, does anyone know of any BF2 decompilers. Thanks.

it's a image format, .spr.

well then I think your missing out, because many of todays current console games + PC games utilize them.
