duel core

im getting a new computer and i dont know if bf2 supports duel cores.

dose this game support it.
if so do i have to do anything to make it work with em?

no it doesn't im afraid. The only game that I know supports dual core is Call of Duty 2, although, tbh I don't think it makes that much difference in performance.

yes i offered to get my own computer but he wants to lease a dell for me. well. im not paying for it

dell will be selling AMD soon if not already..
was recently announced at CES (which I was at... )

from what i know bf2 dosent need that big a processor.

so would it be able to play oh ultra high with my new computer setup

7800 gt oc
2 gigs of ram
and one of the processors
a 2.8 pentium d

The Pentium 2,8 is going to bottleneck the videocard, so no highest settings. You will need a better CPU.

Not sure it would i read an interesting article in 'Custom Pc Magazine' in which they tested BF2, ROME TOTAL WAR, DOOM3, FAR CRAY and one or two other games. They first used 2 x 7800 GT's and a 3000AMD and used some pretty high settings, they then changed the processor for an FX57. When the results are compared in the magazine they are virtually identical with the exception of Rome Total War, which is a very CPU intensive game.
BF2 ran equally well on both set-ups.

Please. please please don't let him pick the parts going into the pc. Parents, unless there 35 and under, don't get it. A computer is a computer to the much older folk. You will end up with 512 of ram and integrated video.

DV8 Bucket i know that most parents dont know and im happy not to have a parent like that. i know more then he dose about stuff but he know alot too. after all he dose work in the 3d industry

SaUrOn is that really true. should i try and get a 3.2 insted? if i just use this pentium d 2.8 will i still be able to play on high with a little loss of fps?
if not what is the problem of it. meybe i could set everything to the other processor insted of running the computer tasks on the same chip of the vid card.

UNDIESRULES i hope your correct cause it might be hard to get a faster one. can i see that article if you have a link?

and. what gfx may i expect to get with the 2.8 and the 7800 gt.
can i run everything on high cept for the shadows at med or with the 3.0 can i run everything high and meybe have 2aa.
