consoles are ultimately a waste of time.
You definitely have a point, but calling them a waste of time is a bit too extreme imo.

While I play most games on my PC, it cant compete with the social feeling of a console. A group of friends in the living room, eating pizza and chilling out is quality time, and it wouldn't be the same in front of a PC. Same thing at a party, especially in the late hours, you can pull out a PS2 without too much protest, but if 4 people were heading to the bedroom to play on the PC you could bet it'd be another story

Also, racing games are just so much more fun on the PS2(or 3)! Anyone playing GT4 with a racing frame, a sports seat and a steering wheel w/ pedals knows what I'm talking about :)

For 1-2 players playing FPS, I'd say the PC is a first choice, but when it comes to socializing and driving games, there's nothing like a console.

I'm definitely getting the PS3 and GT5 - and I'm hoping that, at PS3 release, Logitech will release a new steering wheel/pedal set with a clutch and manual H-shift gearbox! That would rock

I am still trying to get a 360 myself, though I am not straining myself over it...

I am really not sure on the 360 vs PS3 arguement myself. Sure the PS3 is boasting a whole load of shiny new tech and has a history of success but the fact is the stats are really not that different (I mean it is not like comparing the PS3 to the original XBox) so I don't know if it is going to make so much difference to the end product (i.e. the game running on the HD screen in front of me)...

The fact is the XBox is released now with some decent games (if only I could find one... ). The PS3 is not, and in fact I have not heard of any third party hands-on reviews of the PS3 as yet so it is difficult to compare (if I am wrong links would be appreciated)...

The extreme confidence, bordering on arrogance, of the Sony marketing message ("the next generation of entertainment does not arrive until Sony says it is here"... please...) I am finding off putting and I have never been a real fan to the Japanese anime style found in a lot of PS game, so that only really leaves me with the XBox at the moment.

But if the PS3 really does rock the world of home entertainment I could picture owning both...
