Freakin minimap grrr

Is there a way to flippin lock the damn thing? Everytime I spot something far away the minimap zooms out and I have to bring it back to the original. I dont know why they changed it in the last patch but it's completely useless, if you want to zoom in or out you can do it yourself for christ sake.

Just one of the many "useful" changes EA/Dice thought they would add in a few patches ago. I don't know of anyone that likes it...if you want to zoom in/out your mini map, thats what the freaking N button is for...but noooo...it's so "nice" to have it do it automatically for you....*rolls eyes*

I hate it too. I was not even aware that it was changed to an automatic system with the last patch as I just recently started using the zoom feature.

It was on my list! The sad part is that it used to be okay, but they changed something in the 1.12 patch.

Sometimes it is actually useful. Like when I wanna have a closer view of my current location and any friendlies or enemies nearby. Most of the time I like to watch the entire map to keep track of the CP's though.

Allegedly the patch now allows your minimap to 'remember' what size you prefer in what VEHICLE you are in.
So, in Jets, I go fast, i.e. use big map.
In tanks I go slowly, so I choose small map, etc.
In Vodnik, I use a medium-view, etc.

I haven't confirmed this but that's what I read.

Soooooo, yes, you get in your vehicle and the map changes.

It just occured to me to bind map zoom to the mouse scrollwheel. I never use it for weapon select anyway.

I'm pretty sure (I'll have to look) that this feature was requested by the community and was something asked for by a lot of members of this board.

As Zotchman said, the mini-map remembers it's default position depending on what you're in (jet, tank,...) and switches accordingly.

Don't see why they couldn't of added an option in the menu to use either when they originally added auto-zoom.

Oh ok, i know what u guys mean now....I like that feature. Escpecially when flying, it lets me see whats ahead of me.
