    MSI K8N Neo4 RAM issues

    System specs;
    AMD64 3500+
    MSI K8N Neo4 motherboard
    1gig (2x512) OCZ value RAM
    Integrated sound
    6600GT PCIe video

    I have a MSI K8N Neo4 motherboard with 1gig of PC3200 dual channel RAM, 2x512 leaving two slots open. Would like to have 2gig but read in the documentation, that if you fill all 4 RAM slots, it may not recognize the RAM as dual channel.

    Is anyone familiar with this issue? Are there work-arounds? Should I care if my RAM is dual channel?

    Any info would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    I have a MSI K8N Neo4-F mobo and it has two green and two purple slots. I could only put my PC3200 DDR's to the green ones. So you can't put more than 2 sticks?

      I have the same board and it all depends on the RAM. most RAM is double sided (it has memory chips on 2 sides) to use 4 sticks & keep it at 400 MHz you must use single side memory (memory chips on only 1 side = more money) this is because double sided memory uses more power & it will only run at 333 MHz. Your best bet is to try and sell your RAM & buy 2 1 gig sticks & I dont think it will run 4 sticks in duel channel anyway unless you buy some high dollar single sided chips.

        Thanks guys, thats pretty much what I thought. Interesting about the single vs double sided ram, I'll check that out. Looks like I will be replacing my ram with 1gig sticks.
