  • New GFX card - help needed.

Ok my brother is going to upgrade his lowly geforce fx5200 - he has a budget & the two cards we have narrowed down too are these:

Which of these cards would run BF2 the best - I know they aren't the greatest of cards but all he can afford, thanks for any advice :-)

I'm gonna go with the 6600 256 MB but I really couldn't find much info on either of them.

Tom's Hardware didn't have either of them in their VGA charts

The geforce 6600 256MB, I have this card and it will run BF2 all on medium no problem, some on high even, its a good card, only difference is I have a different make of that card.

          P4 3.2GHZ DUAL CPU
          1GB PC3200 DDR RAM
          250GB WD2500JD Western Digital 7200RPM SATA

same card as the one you want, its really good, I can send you in-game screens if you like.

best option for bf2 although the x700 is better in some games such as hl2

The 6600 256mb. However, if you can afford an extra 13 quid (or less if you try Ebay), an alternative would be a 6600GT. Half the memory of the 6600, but it's DDR3 rather than DDR and overall the GT is a much faster card.
