I read a post about the problem when trying to select the X-FI under the audio settings. I deleted the files under logocache and I did not have any luck getting the X-FI to activate. I need more help. I did also try to search the forums and no luck. I have the software and hardware, but only when I get to the X-FI selection it says that I have incompatable hardware and must use the others for any sound at all.

try Dling the lastest driver for the card thats what i had to do to get mine to work... here is a link http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/ hope this helps as it did me

I knew it wasn't me. Every time that I use my headphones, which are USB, it wont let me use the settings. Does this seem right to everyone else. Should headphones disable the ultra settings for the X-FI?Comment

USB headphones has their own soundcard, meaning the X-Fi will be ignored when you plug them in.
Your best alternative is to buy non-USB headphones.Comment

I use USB headset with my X-FI Platinum.. I have the X-FI as the primary sound device in windows controlpanel.. and have teampseak setup to use the USB sound input/output (this means that ingame voice communication does not work) ... Ive also noticed w/ the XFI that if its not in gamemode BF2 doesnt recognize it and stops playing sound eventually and sound settings get messed up.Comment

I use my X-Fi to play BF2 through my 5.1 speakers and I use a mono wireless USB headset to use with TeamSpeak. No problems here.
And to answer the question 2 posts up:
Using a pair of non-USB headphones in your X-Fi will sound amazing and is recommend by most people (unless you have a REALLY nice set of 5.1 speakers). Try using the CMSS3D mode.Comment

You should never use USB if you have a decent soundcard.
My Sennheiser headset has USB too, but you can unplug the normal audio jacks, and plug them into the soundcard.
USB headphones/sets have their own built-in soundcard (usually detachable) which can sometimes provide very poor audio quality.Comment
