Ultimate defense against a tank.

apparently is a tree. :|:

i was on sharqi with a tank, and saw some guys running behind the fence to get behind and invade the tv station. not gonna let that happen, so i start firing away with the machine gun thingy. got a couple of them.

the last guy i could not get because he was behind a tree, and just hid behind the tree. the bullets werent going to impact thru teh tree, so i figured i can hit them with the canon, since i think it has splash damage, and a pretty good radius. but no.

i shot the tree with all i had, and he just stood there, nothing happend to him. very annoying, seeing how i hide behidn boxes and tank canon fire kills me, but this guy lives behind a tree.

did u hit the front of that tree with the cannon? u need to hit the other side.

yes, i hit the front, cuz he was behind it, i couldnt get behind it cuz of the fence. but shouldnt splash damage kinda hit him anyways? oh well, i'll start hiding behind trees more.

well... if u hit the front, the tree shielded him from the splash damage. if u hit the left or right side of the tree, it should've killed him, i believe.

An even better defence can be houses or dumpsters. I've seen tanks grind a bit against them and explode without any outside influence so often - who needs AT rockets, TOWs, c4 or mines, give me a trashcan and I'll ruin that tank good.

well... if u hit the front, the tree shielded him from the splash damage. if u hit the left or right side of the tree, it should've killed him, i believe.

Trees are stronger than Depleted Uranium rounds! We should be making our tanks outta wood.

Going a little off topic here, but: Sometimes i hide in grass and people who arent looking for me typically dont find me.

However, i sometimes get found out, People with poor computers and low settings, can they see me? Does the grass not pop up for them?

the grass is still there for low setting players, but there's much less shadows.

This is fairly obvious as Bf2 renders tree trunks and other objects as solid so you have to attempt to use splash damage to take them out. This is viable in Karkand. Either way I love wiring up an enemy tank, getting on so he can see me, and when he tries to move - Kaboom. As for being visible, Shadows provide the most cover. Thats why if you know a top player with a good PC, he won't play it on high.
