Coral sea

Have any of you guys played the "coral sea" map from bf1942?
i played it for the first time the other day(had the game for about a year. LOL)
and i can see many reasons why bf1942 is better than bf2 with the vehicle category. I entered a server and there was like 15 planes in the air alread(just my planes btw) and we still had planes spawning. So i get into and gues what. the people in fron of me move!! instead of getting me a tk they move. The reason? because the planes spawn continually because that map is and air only map. HUGE dogfights were all over the map and to bad they dont have that kind of thing in bf2. I can see where that would get out of hand with people bombing the other carrier oir whatever. But that is where they should make it so that on that one map the planes would not have bombs or missiles.(just good ol' machine gun dogfights, no missiles because there would be way to many tks) If you havnt played this than i suggest you go back and play it for a couple rounds because you will love the dogfights if you are a decent pilots.
Thats about all i can muster up for this thread. Any opinions on this kind of map or that kind of digfightsing.

Another dissapointing comparison: We didn't have to pay $10 to get Coral Sea either.

Coral Sea was a great map, one of my favorites from bf1942. I like the idea of having an all plane map for the plane whores, but any skilled pilot could easily avoid an enemy fighter's machine gun fire. I think that if they made a map like this, the planes should be given a couple air-to-air rockets and NO BOMBS. That would minimize the spawn raping factor and make it possible to shoot down enemy planes.

Coral Sea was a great map, one of my favorites from bf1942. I like the idea of having an all plane map for the plane whores, but any skilled pilot could easily avoid an enemy fighter's machine gun fire. I think that if they made a map like this, the planes should be given a couple air-to-air rockets and NO BOMBS. That would minimize the spawn raping factor and make it possible to shoot down enemy planes.

The map was a blast in Desert Combat, although I admit to plenty of 100+ (yes, in the old scoring system O_O) rounds using that SU-25 on the enemy carrier. :p However, had the ol' SA-3 been in any of those servers, I would have had a different job.

Let me bring the SA-3 from Desert Combat into Battlefield 2, and within a week people will be complaining jets are underpowered. :p

I liked the idea of flying to the enemy ship and dropping enough bombs or bailing out and setting enough TNT to make it sink with everyone on it still! then I would laugh as they tried to swim but would drown since you could only swim so far in that game......yea yea I know, I'm evil, I can't help it

Yeah i totally agree about the planes having no bombs. Like make the planes somethign new to(im getting sick of these same migs and f25b's) like maybe they could bring in some f22's or some of the other technology that we are working on at the moment(wouldnt be very realistic though because the technology we are working on isnt out yet so they wouldnt be able to get specs. duh LOL)

I remember the map and it was indeed good fun .
But I don't think you can compare a map like that with the curent BF2 maps .

And FYI , on other maps where there where only two planes for each team there was tons more TK ing for those planes then in BF2 right now

Yes, I do remember that. I remember watching as people would purposely crash jeeps into their own teammates, fire BAR's into the planes as they took off (since that actually I believe did do damage) etc. I remember watching this as I got into a tank, since no one was using it, they were all on the airfield, drive off, and would get in the top 3 nearly every single time since i would engage the badguys...you know, the badguys...lol

Why do you think i only said that bf1942 was better than bf2 in "some" of the vehcile ways such as that one. That map is THE best map that has ever been made for a game in the battlefield series. Not because its planes but because they constantly respawn. So there are plenty of them. Just think if it was that way on a map with tanks it would be one badass tank battle. That would be awesome imo. having about 20 tanks batling it out in the desert. Than there were the boats, princerows, gatos,aircraft carriers,yamato,fletcherssub7c;s,hatzuki. and the list goes on. So many boats, thast might not matter to some people but i think that would make it sweet if we had more vehicles such as submarines(just like the hovercraft that was going to be put into the game but pulled out at teh last minute)
but back to the point of huge battles involving planes or tanks or whatever you want it to be. As long as there wouold be many vehicles continously spawning i think it would be freaking sweet.
