I just purchased this game a week ago and have had connection issues since. I installed the game, works perfect, played with the out-of-the-box installation and was only able to join 1 server (out of like 4 that were still running on old installs).
I played for about 6 hours, no problem, was fun. I went ahead and checked for patches for the game. I installed 1.2 and then 1.3 (didnt know about it till after the fact).
When I ran with 1.2, every-single server registered a ping in EXCESS of 1000ms. I'm playing on a college computer (I'm NOT using a router/switch, nothing, direct into the socket in the wall), on an ultra-fast T-3 line (I average about 250-300kbps when downloading the 1.2 or 1.3 patches).
Before I installed the patch I was able to play on the non-patched servers without issue really...though it sucks when theres only a couple left. Installed the patch and I cant play at all, nonstop connection issues.
I've been able to join games with the 1000+ ping, BUT, it'll quickly say "You have a problem with your connection"...and eventually i'll get kicked. After being kicked, it'll say I was kicked by punkbuster for a high ping.
I have no idea how the hell I have a high ping on a T-3 when I play MOHAA and other games online with pings around 20ms, perhaps less.
What gets me is that...Why can I play on the few servers left WITHOUT installing any patches...and have low pings in the game...But after installing any patch, my ping is 1000+ and I cant stay in a game because I get kicked for high ping?
