Riddle me this. Personally I do not see any difference. If spawn camping is prohibited on a server shouldn't they also prohibit people from flying over flags and bombing the sh!t out of the poor folks that just spawned?
How is spawn camping different than bombing flags???

Re: How is spawn camping different than bombing flags???
You can take cover from bombs, incoming jet doesnt come out of nowhere nor is the pilots intention to spawnkill. Also, jets come at a certain interval that makes them predictable. Spawncampers kill you as soon as you spawn without you being able to take cover. Their intention is specifically to keep your seconds of life as short as possible. -

I've seen many jet whores doing this.Originally posted by Chris_RedfieldYou can take cover from bombs, incoming jet doesnt come out of nowhere nor is the pilots intention to spawnkill. Re: How is spawn camping different than bombing flags???
When I fly, which is rarely, i only go for tanks (love ground radar lol) and flags that have just turned white, when everyone bunches up for the extra point :) I never bomb spawn points unless its the only one left, in which I consider it a mercy kill. Its cruel to get their hopes up :pComment

Bombing of capturable flags i feel should be permitted. Bombing of uncapturable flags is the worlds most frustrating thing and anyone caught doing it should be hung upside down by their testicles if they have any but those guys usually haven't.Comment

Re: How is spawn camping different than bombing flags???
There's really not that big a differance.
Both can be countered simply.
DON'T SPAWN THERE!
I know it's a simplistic comment, but it drives me nuts when I see people getting camped/bombed and continuing to respawn in the spam damned place without trying to take steps to counter the tactic at all.
Planes might be harder to shoot down, but if you'd stop camping for planes and choppers you ain't gonna get spawn killed by 'em.
Edit:
You need to check out the Raging Rebels server. This is a standard rule there.Originally posted by Bullit_toofBombing of capturable flags i feel should be permitted. They aren't nazi about it, but if you camp uncapturables too much you get da boot.Comment

Hah! Everytime I spawn and see a group of people near the helipad or the hangar, I run like hell away because you know for sure they're gonna get bombed soon enough.
That' being said, please, keep camping out for heli's/jets. You make the other pilots single you out first for the easy kill.Comment

Re: How is spawn camping different than bombing flags???
Spawn camping is and will be part of this game forever. When infantry is attacking a flag, a few peeps should be camping near spawns. It suppresses the other team and are forced to fall back to another spawn. Live with it, it will not be going away anytime soon.
As for jets, I hate them, but the new patch will help a little. When they bomb a uncappable base over and over again, it just proves that there are a bunch of selfish pricks out there that have a brain the size of a pea. A preschooler can figure out the easiest way to get a bunch of kills because it is obvious that there will always be somebody at a base. When they do that I find another server, problem solved.
For servers out there that have these rules, I try to abide by them. But if I am running through their spawn and a dood spawns, I will ram my rifle up their *** and say G'Day! But you can't avoid these places so I try not to play on servers with those kind of rules, this is war, and I am gonna do what it takes(exept for BH,DD,c4,ect) to get the job done.

Re: How is spawn camping different than bombing flags???
We treat them the same. Whether it be a sniper shooting at an uncap, a jet bombing (by far the biggest offenders) a tank in the middle of the base spawn camping.Originally posted by [FM]Master_ChiefRiddle me this. However we took out the terms spawn camping/base raping to be "attacking". It's only applied to uncaps not all bases because to take a flag over there sometimes needs to be some spawn camping base raping involved obviously to kill everyone in that base 1st. This only applies if not all the flags are taken. As soon as all flags are taken its a free for all.
This is something that has been frowned upon by the serious BF'ers from day 1. It takes no skill whatsoever to do this and since BF2 has uncaps (for a very good reason) we applied this rule to them and people enjoy it because they can actually spawn at an uncap without repeatedly dying from an untouchable jet.Comment

Re: How is spawn camping different than bombing flags???
Thanks for your comments guys.
I have a little problem with people saying well, you can take cover when you see a bomber coming or the planes are not sitting in the same place killing people as they spawn. There are very few maps with even less flags that have some kind of shelter around it that is not penetrable by a bomb that would provide protection. Also, just because they are moving and not sitting in the single spot doesn't mean that they are not achieving the exact same outcome - killing you as soon as you spawn. Spawn camper usually can't cover all spawn points around the flag but 5 bombs does a pretty good job. Let's pretend I said spawn raping and not camping, that should take care of the problem.
Also, spawning at a different base will protect you from a spawn camper (unless the other flag is camped too ) but WILL NOT protect you from a flag raping plane. By the time your spawn timer ticks from 15 to 0 the plane had time to rearm and is going for the next run. Which flag he will pick this time? Who knows. It's kinda like playing Russian Roulette .
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a plane hater. Sure, I don't like to get bombed and be defenseless about it but I accept it as a part of the game. At least I will respawn in 15 secs. This must kinda suck in real life since I don't think that options has been implemented yet . I'm only bringing this up since you see many servers that have rules against spawn camping but nothing against bombing it with planes. If I can't park my Abrams 50m from a flag raping whoever spawns there, how come joe_I'm_teh_l33t_pilot can repeatedly bomb it and it's OK? My tank would be much more vulnerable to being destroyed in numerous ways, by someone who spawned at that flag and escaped my fire, than a jet passing by, sticking his middle wing to the AA guy down below.
Are there any servers out there that only allow planes to engage other planes and vehicles only? Is it even possible for something like that to work?
I'm pretty sure 1.2 will do nothing for shooting down planes. I hope, someday they will change AA so the rockets explode in proximity of target as several people have suggested on these forums. I think that's the best idea to solve the "plane" problem. I'm not keeping my breath though .
Wow, this is probably the longest post I've made in my life.Comment

Re: How is spawn camping different than bombing flags???
The problem is that your state of mind doesnt reflect the mentality of "JETS, LETS FRIGGIN RUN!". Youre standing there, defenseless in the center of the base and let yourself get killed. Most bombers bomb the center of the base. So what you should be doing is to back off a bit. Bombs arent nukes. They have a radius. Every time you see a jet, run at 90 degree angle from its course. I dont see pilots bomb the edges of the bases.
Once again. Too often people just accept and let themselves be bombed. Not many actually run off. About tanks. Well. Its a shame but the bomber is a tanks biggest threat anyway. Youll just have to try to find a way.
A bomber cant kill you as soon as you spawn if you wont let it happen. A tank in the center of your base however will. Thats the primary difference.Comment
