Please someone help BF2 Startup % patch error

Hello,

Ive had BF2 quite a while now, have the orginal dvd of bf2,

Ive havent played it for a while, and and meanwhile it has been uninstalled and and new soundcard and gfx card has been added, and ive tryed installed it lately, and when i try to run the game after it is installed, i get the bf2 screen, and it get black to start to the game, and i hear a "plong" windows error sound, and if i press enter it all goes away, and it back to windows, if i go to controllsettings or what it is, i only see this:



Dont say me much, but maybe some of you have seen it before.

Ive searched trough this forum, and google, but i didnt find any problem looking like this.

When i try to install the patch, i get this error


And on the hdd i have the game installed on i have 21GB free space,
And how the hell can the patch take 3000mb??

I dont have the worlds best cpu, but before i could run the game with no problem, so i dont understand why i cant now, same screen, but not same gfx card and sound card, they both support directx 9c
and have new mouse installed, but that couldnt be it..
Have battlefield vietnam running ok. have a few cracked games installed, could that be it?? dont think so but..

Please anyone give me some help with this so i can go back and kill some one

Ok...there has to be 3 GB on your MAIN HARD DRIVE..not necessarily the HDD BF2 will be installed on.

So free up some space on your C drive.

ok, i tryed that for the patch, cleared out free space on c got 3.1gb free there now, and still the same msg comes up

That won't be enough. Keep going. I know it says 3 GB, but go for more. You should have more free space on your C drive anyway.

It's a very sloppy patch, I recomend, every 50 mb or 100 mb you free up, re-test.

tnx, i needed 3.6 gb of free space on c unbelivable.. but true.. to install something to another hdd, but tnx for helping me solve that problem. hope the game works now then

Moral of this story? Don't trust anything DICE/EA tell you in a patch

Not to spam the forums or anything, but, how long time this patch supposed to use? I started it a few minuttes before i posted the last post, and it still,

Ok, the patch is fully installed now, and i still get that "pong" windows error sound, and when i press enter it gets back to windows. Anyone got a clue what i can do with this problem??

Ive deleted the files in my documents. didnt work

Yes, the patch is stupid and unbelieveably slow..I'll give you that.

When are you receiving this error? Is there a message given?

No, theres just a plong, and the error is all that is showen, first photo. but now it say the patch v.. not the one on the image. so i dunno

So the patch DIDN'T install?

If you have a half-patched game, sometimes the only way to solve a problem is to do a manual uninstall:

Followed by a re-install fresh from DVD
Then install v1.12

it is the same error as i had before i installed the patch, and no, the patch was installed successfully, no problems, just took some time.
