Crashes after I try and Join a server..

I just did a complete install of BF2, BF2 SF, and the 1.12 patch in that order..I have all the updated drivers for my sound card and video card. My specs are, 3.0 P4, 2.75 GHz DDR2 533, ATI X800 256mb XP service pack 2 any help would be great.

crashes to desktop or crashes back to the server browser?

You may need to reenter your cdkey.

Crashes back to desktop....then the game restarts with a black screen and freezes.


EDIT: oh by the way, I can play offline,I it just the moment I click to join a server the game crashes.

Happened to me... I realized that my sound setting was set at <<software>>. I turned that back to hardware and it never did it again.

i have a similar problem too, only recently after i installed a sound blaster X-Fi. worked great for a few days and now sometimes BF2 crashes to the desktop. mine doesn't restart though, it just stays crashed:hmm:
