the TOW's and AA sites on Ghost town are very badly placed .

Ghost town is a very nice map, but in the making of it, well, they made some terrible mistakes, wich are in my opinion unforgivable .

For starting the TOW at the SAS base, if the spetz have the chopper point on the SAS base side, you can shoot the chopper down from where he lifts up with the TOW .

Then the AA site on the roof just over the street of the flag point most close the the SAS base, If there is a SPETZ in it , he can shoot down the BH from it's landing spot, also you almost can't hit this AA site from the ground .

When the next patch is going to come out, with the Killer AA for choppers , choppers will become unusable on this map and most for the SAS .

I guess it all depends on your perspective doesn't it.

this isn't my point, I like both infantry and vehicles, and BF2 is a game where infantry and vehicle battles are possible, this is the big difirence between BF2 and CS for example.

BUT my point is, they shouldn't place TOW's and AA sites wich can hit and destroy choppers or whatever where they spwan, this is just plane baseraping .

Taking a chopper down when it's flying, OK, taking a chopper down when it's lifting from it's spwanplace is just lame

Its not just SF that these implacements are poorly positioned either. The AA can take out a heli before it can take of from the TV tower on Sharqi. As soon as you take off in a MEC heli you can get hit also by AA. I mean what were they thinking.

Ghost town you can get hit anywhere on the map by AA and that TOW is just rediculous that it can take out a heli as it spawns.

What about Dragon Valley that has an insane amount of AA sites. With the new and improved AA against helis (hmm I always thought they were effective last patch) There is at least 5 AA sites that can hit you at the same time and don't forget about mobile AA. I can't understand why people complain about heli's because if you can't kill one you really should take a long hard look at why because there are sooooo many ways to kill a heli yet planes remain untouchable.

I prefer mobile AA over static AA, however I do like using the TOW's and feel that on many occasions I'm either very exposed or unable to see the area that really most at risk.

What would be really good, is if engineers could move them. :)

Well how about this, from the stationary MG that's on the building above the Convoy flag (next to the AA position) you can completely rape both western flag positions and the upper most attack chopper spawn.

I got 19 kills doing that last night. The Russians didn't know what hit them.

Is that fair? Is that a good placement?

The overpowering helos clearly aren't the only problem in SF.

There are also way too many spawnraping points, where you can establish yourself and then have only two directions you have to defend yourself from incoming fire (i.e. N and NE or S and SW etc.), just like Rafterman pointed out.

Gulf of Oman actually feels like a good map now...

What irks me is that there has no been no mention of how the new AA in this next patch will react to jets. Jets were the huge gamebalance problem in this game, not choppers.

indeed, I didn't find the choppers a big problem to take down, I where the jets who where the problem

When you hit a chopper square in the nose with a tank round and it doesn't blow up or crash, that might be a sign that choppers are too hard to take down.

Jets, of course, are almost impossible to take down with anything other than another jet.

That is what people whinge about all the time. Look you can take out some helis with 1 round from a tank. If you don't take them out a couple of rounds from the gun will finish them off.

The 50 cals are the most effective for 2 reasons. A: most of the time you don't even realise you are getting hit by them to only look down to see all of a sudden the heli's health is less the half. By that time you may have 2 secs to live and a lot of the time you can't get out of range before you die.

The heli's have been dealt the most harsh nerf stick I have ever seen when it was the planes that were the problem.

If you can't shoot down a heli in this game then I guess you should give up playing because there are so many ways to do it.

If my tank round doesn't take down the chopper, there is not going be any time to pop off a few rounds with the .50 cal unless the pilot is no good. A tank round should take down a chopper every time.

I've taken down many choppers in many ways including machine guns, AA vehicles, tanks, apcs, planes, AT, AA, TOWs, C4, GLs, and my shotgun (OK so maybe the pilot crashed just after my hit registered, but my shotgun got the credit). The problem is that ground troops have no reliable way to take down a halfway decent pilot. I have flown gunner for some really good pilots, and we feared nothing on the battlefield.

There should be a reasonable countermeasure for everything in order for the game to be balanced.

I agree that planes are more of a problem, but there are not as many maps with planes as with helos.

It remains to be seen how nerfed the choppers will be, the armament load has been reduced to 8 from 14 and hit points have been reduced - by how much I guess we'll see. For a good pilot this probably just means more trips to the pad. If the AA is significantly improved then the helos will have a problem - right now the AA hits friendlies better than enemies!

Ok to give you an idea I got hit by a tank tonight in the cobra. From full health I had 3 and 1/2 bars left. If the hp is lowered so that when I get hit there is only 2 and 1/2 the heli is going to catch fire and blow. I bet though you will find that a tank will take out all helis 1st shot.

The heli's will be flying coffins from now on you mark my words.
