i just got sony vegas..i have watched all the turtorials..but i have a problem.
when i go to import my .avi file, usually a square boz will cme up..but a circle with one line through it comes up...and it wont let me put the video in?
any suggestions?

Try creating a different video track...every once in a while a video track won't work for some reason or another....also, make sure that the video you are importing isnt compressed with Xvid or Divx cause vegas can't read those codecs.:)

well i always use xvid so wat else can i use?

Use uncompressed, then compress it later when exporting from Vegas. It's really stupid that Premiere and Vegas cant import the 2 most popolar codecs, it's pathetic really.

Note that Uncompressed videos have huge file sizes so only do it if you have a big HDD.

yea i have another question..i exported a small trailer that i have just finished(my first turn) and it was 250mb for a 1:00 min. vid....any suggestions 2 get it smaller without loseing quality?

what did you render it as? vegas does a really good job at rendering WMV and the file size comes out pretty small if you use the default setting.

The whole movie I'm making uses a DivX codec when I rendered it, and I can import it to Premiere without problems.
