Refresh rate and game crashing

I got a new monitor for christmas that could do 100 refresh rate on 1024x768.
that is the monitor ive been using. I sent it back becasue there was a crack in it and now im using a monitor that can only get 85 refresh rate in bf2. The problem is i can start bf2 without it crashing bc the refresh rate is set to high. Is there a way outside the game that i can set the refresh rate for bf2, like through profiles data or soemthing. Or should i reinstall? if i reinstall and start playing again will everything come back like my stats and weapons etc

Either delete the folders inside: ..\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\ and use the retrieve option in manage accounts to get your login back but with default bf2 settings, or....

.... go into ..\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\000X where X=1,2,3... depending on how many profiles. Open profile.con, to make sure you are in the right 000x folder, then edit your video.con file e.g. set it to this:

VideoSettings.setResolution 800x600@60Hz to be safe, or set it to what you indicated above:

VideoSettings.setResolution 1024x768@85Hz
