special forces installation

i can't install special forces. when it says that bf2 must be patched with 1.12, the error "patch installation failed" appears (i have already installed the 1.12 with the commands prompt) and the installation doesn't go on. how can i do? please help

I had the same problem initially, I completely uninstalled BF2 and SF then deleted patch and everything associated with the game from my pc. Try a clean install of BF2 then install SF, this should automatically patch itself to 1.1 ( which allows you to play on BF2 only games.) Then install patch 1.12 at the end and it should be ok.

Yes, make sure you uninstall completely..i.e. use the manual method:

i tried to unistall and reinstall the game many times (i have also formatted my pc) but i have the same problem, i can't install special forces

And you've deleted the contents of the Battlefield 2 subfolder in My Documents (i.e. you didn't back it up and replace it after the reformat)?

Are you installing SF from original disc or from download?

Because the patch must be installed again after the sf instalation it must be last.

He is having trouble installing SF...not the patch.

Even if he patched to v1.12 FIRST, SF should still install over top of that (resulting in him having to install v1.12 yet again).

after the reformat i didn't back it up and replace. however i'm trying to install SF from original disk. i can't find the solution to this problem

Usually the patching problem is due to having SF not in the default location ie C: drive. Some people have installed it in safe mode and that worked or to make it easy re-format and install it to C: drive in the default location then once BF2 and SF are installed, you should have no trouble patching it to 1.12

So you're trying to install SF over top of a FRESH v1.0 BF2 installation, right? (i.e. no other patches)

If not, make sure that you are.

Also, if you're using a folder other than the default, try the default (C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2) and don't mess around with the location of the My Documents folder with tweaks or anything.

Make sure you're logged in as admin.

yes i'm trying to install SF over top of a fresh v1.0 BF2 installation, and the folder can't be changed during the installation, however the problem is in the patch, i can't patch tha game with normal way, so the installation doesn't go on

Try patching in safe mode it worked for a lot of people.

However this usually only occurs when BF2 and SF aren't installed in the default location and are installed usually on another drive or partition.

When your PC boots up, keep hitting F8, when the boot menu loads choose safe mode only. After it slowly boots into windows run the patch again. Remember the patch will sit there for ages and seem like its doing nothing, it may take 5+ minutes to patch it.

If that doesn't work then re-install in the default location, nobody seems to have any problems when they do that.
