    Opponents can survive entire magazine?

    Hi,

I've noticed many, many times in gameplay that I'll be within a few feet of my enemy and I'll shoot an entire magazine at them. Then, they'll turn around pop one shot and I'm history. It seems to always be the case too. If you empty a magazine on the opponent and they live, you don't stand a chance - their first shot will definitely take you out. I should be able to take 20-30 hits just like they did which has never happened. If not instantly lethal, bullets always chew up a large part of my health. At some point as you're promoted, is there an upgrade for kryptonite armor or something like that?

Does anyone have an explanation for this other than the possibility that I am an awful shot (which by the way might be true but not always)?

    Thank you,

What sort of weapon are you using when this happens? Some weapons have higher damage than others for sure.

Some kits have ARMOR (assault, AT, support). If you're playing as an un-armored kit (medic, engie, spec ops, sniper) and they are using armor, that makes a difference.

Also, WHERE you shoot matters. If you shoot them in the chest (also where the armor is on armored kits) it takes MANY more bullets. If you shoot them in the head, less.

Other times, it is lag. So..make sure your ping is as low as possible.

edit: I should also mention, if you shoot at a medic and he disappears behind a wall, chances are he's healing himself

        Talus,

Interesting reply. Usually, I am playing as spec ops or assault. Come to think of it, it's been happening less with the assault kit and the upgraded weapon (G3?). So, armor and weapon definitely play a role.

Most of my shots are to the chest. I've learned that I can do more damage by moving my mouse randomly usually toward the head of the opponent versus focusing on their chest.

But I do feel that it's a bug that an opponent can shoot me after 20 shots to the chest even if they're armored. There should be knockback or at least some slowdown effect that stops the enemy from turning around and popping a shot to take the kill - at least giving me enough time to reload for a fair fight.

It's ludicrous that they survive all those shots and then take me out with one shot.

So you're shooting them 30 times in the back and you want something that makes it so you can reload before they turn around making it a fair fight. I see.

          Wait, no I don't.

Talus, your forgeting something. Make sure you are hitting him. This is indicated by an "X" comming up where your crosshairs are sayingg that you hit them. Going full auto means that there is less chance of hitting because of the massive recoil penalties that you rack up when doing so. When in short range, do long burts like a 5 round burdt or something and control it. You will hit him more.

I think its usually down to lag. If your connection hangs up for a second or two while your shooting the won't register with the server and blah blah blah blah. Just one of those things i'm afraid. It happens to everyone at one time or another.

                Loud Howard,

If I spend 2-3 minutes swimming to get behind an enemy position, shouldn't I take them out or should I whistle first to give away my position and then shoot them?

Lag, either your innacurate, or it's lag or for somereason the games not registering hits properly. Lag is the general cause. I've seen it done to me and I've done it to people.

                    You should shoot them.

But having some mechanism to slow an opponent down so you can reload after you've wasted your entire clip into them and missed (for whatever the reason, lag/bad game code/alligator ate your hand just as you fired) seems a little strange to me. I'd be willing to bet the opponent would consider that to be "unfair" - but thats just me.

I guess I was ASSUMING that if he says he's hitting them..that he understand that your reticle shows a hit 'bloom' when that is actually the case.

And you know what they say about assuming ...

Sounds like you're not shooting in 3-6 bullet bursts. If you stay on the trigger, and empty the clip BF2's deviation system will make sure that none of the bullets will hit it's target. At least that's my experience so far.

Never go full auto on a guy. Always shoot in bursts and aim for head shots.

Unless I'm in a CQB situation, I always have my rifle on semi-auto b/c it's the most accurate. I've dropped snipers half way across the map with the AK101 on semi-auto as I'm hearing their round hitting all around me.

In CQB, never fire more than a 3-4 shot burst.

But you're right, the few times I've panicked and gone full auto on a guy, I usually empty the magazine and he kills me - unless I can get to my knife or pistol fast enough.

yeah, aim and conefire could be your problem... are you straffing? prone? etc..

There are so many factors, armor, who is in a better shooting position, who aims better, etc... And what was with the "randomly move your mouse" ? Point the thing at his face and let a couple rounds fly, dead.

First off - try not to unload an entire clip with one trigger pull. Use controlled bursts or single shots and your accuracy will greatly improve.

Using the spray and pray method in BF2 is simply a waste of time.
