    Bad stutters and crashes??

Well it seems the new patch has screwed me over aswell. Been looking through the forum and havent really seen many people with the same issue as me so thought ide start a new one. Ever since the patch ive been getting really bad chunking when starting up and at random intervals, doesnt seem like net lag more like system lag and crashes alot also. Well I upped my vid card to a 7800GTX this improved the framerate which I never had much of an issue with anyway but the stutters are worse and SF is just screwed. If I up the textures from medium to high the framerate is still smooth but the stutters are bad in normal BF2 and SF is just unplayable. Sometimes the sound loops and video pauses for about 30 secs before coming back and random desktop crashes also.

I'm thinking RAM may be the issue as I have 1024mb just wondering what anyone else thinks? Just spent tonnes on my PC and BF2 is probably worse than it was on my 9800XT so dont really want to blow tonnes on another 1024 of ram as its expensive, because I got high qual ram, to find out nothing changes. Tried all settings set everything to stock and low ram timings and nothing helps.

    Current PC Specs

AMD 3000+ 64 at 2.4ghz (had it much higher)
1024 Corsair Twinx PC3200XL Pro at 420mhz (had it at much higher also)
    DFI Nf4 SLI Expert
XFX 7800GTX 256 stock (newest vid drivers)
    SATA drives

Pretty ****ed off spent tonnes of cash and mainly to play BF2 but this new patch is farked plus the new system hasnt improved anything

    Get more RAM.

It's a shame to have such a nice system and RAM be your issue..but since we're talking about BF2..there it is.

Oh man, you'll be glad you did. Best money I've spent on BF2 was doubling my RAM.

Ram will definetly help. But it sounds more like a conflict issue. Computer's don't crash and "wig-out" unless stuff is fighting. If your PC worked fine before the patch, and now does these weird things, it could be a faulty patch install. When I did the patch, everything was fine, I had no issues. But I have 2 friends that installed patch and all of a sudden, the game became almost unplayable with the same issues you are experiencing. My buddies have AMD Athlon 3200 and higher w/ 1-2 gigs and 6800 and higher cards. So it's not the system. They almost gave up on the game, they were that ****ed. So anyways after a few weeks, I got them to do a fresh install and now everything is good. This may fix your issue.

Any one with 2 gigs of ram can check in task manager and tell you that when BF2 runs it uses about 1.6 gigs of ram. I have 3 gig of ram but BF2 still uses around 1.6 gigs. With this in mind I would say 2 gigs in your system is the only way to go. Good Luck. . . . . . .Red
