"Punish" scripts?!

Hey all

I was on a server earlier, and threw a nade around a corner to try kill a bloke, and some retard of a team mate ran after it. The INSTANT he got blown up I was punished for TK.
Does this mean it's possible that some people out there have actually got scripts or binds that automatically punish people?

Has anyone else noticed things like this?

Did it say your were punished or did your score decrease ?

I know a server I played on 24/7 had Auto punish such as that, and I'll tell you, I didn't see much WTF PUNISH ME NOOB messages and people didn't realise, I just learned to live with it and said to myself. However after restarting the server the server now allows punishes and forgives.

It said, "you have been punished for a teamkill" as soon as he died, so it might be autopunish....that would make sense.

You never know, I also find it strange that some people punish at the exact same millisecond they got teamkilled.

I just don't accept to be forgiven, I remember when I grab a jet, I'm sure im going to get punished by the guy not letting me get off, I don't expect to be forgiven. Just can't do anything about it :p

As far as I know from setting up our server - the auto punish option is only a check box. All that means is if the player does not choose an option after like 60 seconds - it auto chooses punish.

There is not an option to immediately punish. If there was - I think servers admins with that turned on should be castrated with a rusty spork!

could be a bug, tonight I was a squad leader and a guy on my squad accidentally ran me over, and then he said why did I punish him, but I didnt, I was no where near the page down button, but I was pressing some other keys at the time like fire, movement keys, I think, so, yea, bug ... maybe there are other people who have had the same thing happen ...

I remember happening on Xtra ranked, same with have not being able to make squads, it happened when they hadn't booted the server for a while and it started to get really buggy.
After Gamespy maintanence, it was fixed. Dunno though.

No there is the option for a server side setting to tkpunish by default. So that guy may not have even pushed page down, if it timed out you get punished by default, I bet that is what it was.

Although some people just seem to have their finger hovering over page down and hit it so fast it may seem like it was instant.

If the punish comes IMMEDIATELY after the TK occurs...it's either a punish-monkey (more likely) or a rare bug.

The default timeout occurs LONG after the TK.

i guess im just confused about a few things with the punish system also. I have played in servers that seem variable. for instance ive been tk'd then had an option to punish or forgive, but then in same server and same round ive been tk'd but have not had the option to forgive or punsh. So what gives, is it the type of tk on some servers? Has this happend to others? maybe bug?

My feelings about the tk system is, when im tk'd i almost always forgive, if the tk'er say sry intant forgive followed by NP mate. if im tk'd and the tk'er does not say sry, i forgive and type "I forgave you ______, do the same for others!" Maybe they see it maybe not. The only time i dont forgive is if it is blatent tking and a 3rd or 4th time. But i admit i get ****ed when some nub runs into a crowd of enemy rambo style right after i throw a nade, and then i get the auto punish. I hate auto punishing nubs. Ive even forgiven tkers who punished me earlyer in round. i try to make a point at letting them know that it is the hornorable thing to do.

Just get out, let him have it, make sure he gets a punish for running you over, and go back to the hangar. Usually those morons die quickly (in my experiences anyway) so the plane will be back in no time. If he continues to cause trouble, rinse/repeat until he's gone.

If punish is off..... just run him the heck over.
