    X700 pro help

i currently hav radeon x700pro(5.13 cats). In my video seetings for BF2 i hav AA off, shadows off , medium effects, medium terrain, and everything else on low. And my current display is 1280x960.My graphics card settings are on default. And my problem is it freezes like i dnt hav enough FPS. It's like im lagging but my ping is ok. I hav played Sounter strike source and EVERYTHING IS FINE. I am inly having this problem in BF2. So im thinking that the problem is in my video settings. OR my graphics card is the problem.

    Im running my BF2 on...
    Pentium 4 HT 3GHz
    800MHz , 1mb L2 cache
    512mb RAM

PS: I ONLY KNOW A LITTLE ABOUT COMPUTERS SO PLEASE BE SPECIFIC.

I REALLY NEED HELP!!! I CNT PLAY BF2 PROPERLY

Your video card and video settings seem to be fine.

That 512MB RAM is too low for BF2. Try getting 1GB, or If you have enough money you can invest in 2GB.

Nah, his video card seems to be good enough for those settings. It is definetly the RAM.

I have a x700 too, with most everything set to medium and a couple of things set to high, resolution is at 1024x768 @ 60Hz and I have no problems. Maybe you have your resolution too high??? Try lowering your resolution and see if that helps. If not it probably is the RAM, get at least 1 Gb and that should help too.

I have a POS x300 and run everything at medium. I am getting an X800GTO2 Friday though! Anyway, anX700 should be fine, just get at LEAST another 512mb of RAM and prefferably a gig more. You can find a gig at lots of places for under $100.

yea, 512 ram is not enough, at least a gig and you will be rollin. Also, I keep hearing the catalsy 5.13 drivers are bad for bf2? if so roll back one or two.

More ram dude. I'm using the same card as you and my settings are high. Also, I would switch to an AMD system, they are better suited for gaming.

Ya its your RAM. You need at least a Gig for this game, otherwise it will start using your pagefile which means that it is using some space on your hard drive to act like memory after the 512Kb is full. The problem with this is that it is really slow to access your hard drive compared to a memory stick. Every time your CPU has to take or send something to your pagefile you will get choppyness in BF2 no matter how good your graphics card is.

The textures setting in BF2 greatly determines how much RAM BF2 uses. Try setting it to low, 512 still may not be enough though.
