    they were all wrong!!!

All the people that said my last 2 video cards would never work on bf2 were wrong they worked fine.

Just because it says they are not supported does not mean they will not work.

    My last setup was
    Geforce5600 256mb
(loads of people said and think it would never work)
    512mb ram
I could run is smoothly online with low settings.

    Now:
Geforce 6200 256mb(people warned me not to buy this card its crap and would never run bf2 but runs fine medium settings.

For all those people like me on a low budget.
you dont need to spend $100 or more on a video card just to play bf2 like everyone tells you.

Your first mistake was probably actually considering advice from people on this forum.

A friend of mine plays BF2 just fine with his FX5600. The 6200 is about the same performance-wise as an FX5700...and since it's newer, it should work too.

So, I certainly wouldn't have said 'they won't work'

i was thinking about the 6200 256mb but i went with the 6600gt i seem i can't run medium settings so i run it with a mixture of low and medium but i was thinking it could be my memorey upgrading 2 gig soon plus a new power supply unit

The 6600GT is the way to go for budget cards, with 2 gig of RAM and a decent CPU you can run everything on medium with some things on high!

this one is just the same.... i still remember being called an idiot for saying that i would run with my AthlonXP 2000+ and radeon 9600XT even if it was on low.... but still i can play smoothly on medium.... the problem in this forum and many others is that ppl cant run the game on their uber pc's and then think the same about everyone else.....

if someone knows enough about computers and how to run them and keep them clean and allways at full speed, yes even a 2000+ and a 9600XT can run it smoothly on medium...

I have the 6600GT 128 mb, 2 Gb of RAM and a AMD 3500+ and I run it with everything on highest without lag.

                    absolute ********

a 128mb card is way too weak for alll high settings.

my x800 pro does all high but i get a hiccup from time to time

                      I was running on a p4 2.0, 512mb ram, and a 9600 w/128mb, then upgraded that to a HIS Excalibur 9600XT w/256mb, then upgraded to a new p4 3.0, 1gb ram, and AIW x800xt w/256mb.

You know what? I really don't notice any difference in gameplay--I can turn the eyecandy way up on the AIW x800xt, but is the game really that much more fun? Nah. Not the new card isn't useful--I can go AV source-->Hard drive, do TiVO, etc. with the AIW card. In fact, it will eventually be the bedrock of an entertainment PC in a three or four more years, when I build a new PC and cannibalize this one. Need a (MUCH) cooler CPU first, though....

The 9600XT was an awesome card for its time, and it'll keep playing the newest games acceptably for another year or 18 months, with the eye candy dialed down. Good job on not going out and plopping down three grand to chase video gaming Nirvana--there isn't a whole lot of difference (in my opinion) between:

                      Point-click-ugh-headshot
                      and
                      Point-click-ugh-headshot (oooh, pretty)

My older computer, well lets just say the only requirement it does meet for bf2 is a "compatible" video card and it has XP lol...that is really the only two reqs it meets...yet it can play bf2 just fine...mind you it takes forever to load a map....but hey...it proves that you don't need those kinds of things...just..have to get lucky I guess :p...of course that's why I reserve it just for my friends to use when they come to play...seeing how nice I am

I have a GeForce FX 5900 Ultra and have seen no troubles. 4X AA and medium settings, runs fine for me. Although personally I think Desert Combat in the 1942 engine looks just as good as BF2. Just a few more effects that aren't being used to their fullest in BF2. Explosions should be much larger. :p

Ati cards are just so much better than Geforce (well defiatnly in my opinion - im an ATIfanboy)

Im using a X800XL Pci-Express and only have 1gig Ram (although Dual sticks with good latency) and i run everything on High with no lag at all.
