  • Startup Problem

Ok, so I go to play BF2 after a few days of not playing it. I click on the 'Play BF2 online now' icon and the square image think comes up then nothing happens. It just stays at the desktop. I pressed CTRL, ALT and Delete. The BF2 process was running but the game wasn't launching. I have tried re-installing a few times and it don't work. Deleted the folders..etc.

    Specs:
    Dell Inspiron 9300 (laptop)
    1.86GHz Pentium M
    1GB DDR2 RAM
    256MB Nvidia GeForce GO 6800
    80GB 7200RPM HDD

    Does anyone know whats wrong?

Don't use the Play Now feature. It's a piece of crap. Start up BF2 normally and select a server.

          Re: Startup Problem

Try a re-install after you remove it. Follow these easy directions- Uninstall, defrag, Spyware removal, defrag, reboot, re-install game then patch, Defrag, reboot, play.

              Re: Startup Problem

I recommend you do the final defrag AFTER you load a map and quit (to optimize shaders) in order to ensure the cache is defragged.

                  Re: Startup Problem

I just realised something. I tried the game without the patch and it worked. Once I applied the patch it stopped working.

Ok, nevermind. I just created a new admin account on my PC and it solved it.

                          Re: Startup Problem

Nice..that fulfilled one of the major rules of BF2...only run/install BF2 from an admin account
