In the game it's the IGLA Anti-Aircraft sites.

No such thing as a stinger in BF2, only the launcher. The actual missile fired from the "stinger" launcher IS the IGLA.

Technically, yes. You can't tell the difference when you fire it, but both the IGLA and the Stinger bases fire the same missile. :p Just a little tidbit of useless knowledge about the workings of the game.

                  Huh?

                  There are 2 Anti-Air sites.

One of the USMC\SAS Stinger. The other is the MEC\China\Insurgent\Rebel etc IGLA.

When you shoot down someone in the USMC Stinger, it says just that YOU [Stinger] Noob, same with the IGLA, it says YOU [IGLA] Noob.

They probably fire the "same" missile (ie the missiles are identical in what they do), but they are still Stinger and IGLA.

Just like if you pause a demo while the different helos are firing the tv missile, you'll see the missile flying through the air is the hellfire from the Cobra, reguardless of what the other helos have on their pylons. They all fire the same FFAR etc. It's just another case of DICE being lazy.

                      Oh
                      My
                      God.

Oh all the amazingly stupid things to split hairs over.

First off, realize that ANY time you can re-use a model, you are saving on system resource requirments. If they had to make a different model for every bullet, bomb, missile, and knife, there'd be a much larger minimum RAM requirement.

                      What's next?

Are you going to complain because they re-use the same grass?

It's called being lazy. Accepting it when game developers are lazy only serves to reinforce that behavior. Then guess what happens? Buggy BF2 happens. It's not a memory problem, its a lazy coding full of slopiness problem. Remember the recalled patch? Perfect example. Or how about the fact that we're coming up on the 5th patch and they JUST now discovered a problem decreasing performance in the staticmesh format that they CREATED? Need I even mention the server browser that doesn't work properly? Try digging around in their crap, er I mean code, sometime. You'll see how sloppy it is.

Less sucking up, more accountability please.
