Sniper rifles sometimes not inflicting damage

Well myself and a few other people in my clan were trying out a few things with the sniper rifle on Karkand. On a few of the shots-to the head-the only thing that appeared was white smoke and the player who was shot as said his health had not gone down at all. This was a head shot and I highly doubt the soldier's helmet has enough armor to protect an M95 bullet.

Yep seen this, it sometimes happens to me all it is that it doesent register that you hit him in the head. So its thinking oh it must be the leg hes shooting at.

But yeah its a bitch just put 1 more round in his skull.

Happens with noob toobs too, when it lands next to them but they continue playing as if nothing happened.

I agree 100%, I have many shots like this in-game and its really frustrating. Some were gifts of a shot and once the "missed" your cover is blown. I dread to think of the points and lives I have let go!!!!!:laugh:

I've seen it happen first person. I was shot in the face and saw a poof of smoke, yet no damage.

I think it has to do with lag and such. Because I've had it happen a lot on laggy servers.

Bad hit registration. Never happens to me on CSS but depends on your ping and the server's tick-rate.

In BF2, the excuse is that you are playing on a huge map with a Lot of people. And not everyone has the same ping. I'll buy it.

Happens with knives TONS. I stab someone 3 times and they only die on the 3rd.

Happens with noob toobs too, when it lands next to them but they continue playing as if nothing happened.

Are you sure it's just not close enough to kill? I've had 40mms land right infront of my perspective and be knocked down to half, or lower health, then kept fighting.

Yea ive seen this bug. Sometimes ill shoot an enemy with the m95 then take out my pistol to finish him only to find that he still has full health. Other times ill shoot a guy with a sniper and not get the little "X" in the crosshair indicating a hit but the guy will still die.

I fine the same think with the anti-tank rockets, I fire it at someone and it's magically absorbed by the ground and never explodes. It's happened 2x with humvees as well, I hit the humvee but no explosion.

Humvees don't go down in one shot, depending on where you hit them.

Also, I get the hit registration failure alot when sniping people out of choppers, even from 1 mm away. You can even see the bullet hole in the glass between the pilot's eyes, but nothing.
Also, I've once shot a guy in the head with the m95 on Kubra, and his helmet fell off his head (???), but he walked on unscathed, without even so much as flinching.

You are totally right, sometimes their helmets pops off, i find headshots with m24 easier :S maybe something with bulletdrop or wahtever

This sort of thing happens to me when I'm in an APC and with other infantry weapons. But there is never any question with a tank shell.

I shot an AT four times in the head from above with the m24, smoke came out from his head, but he didnt die until i threw a nade.
