  • 6600GT underperforming

    Hi everyone!

How come my Leadtek 6600GT AGP card comes nowhere near the performance experienced by every 6600GT owner on this forum? Medium settings at 1024*768 is unplayable, basicly a slideshow. If I set everything to low, except for 2x antialiasing and 100% viewing distance, its okay. I had a 9800Pro before this, it performed wonderfully at medium settings with 4xAA, high texture filtering, and high terrain. As I know the 6600GT shouldn't be worse than that card, and your experiences support this. What do you think?
    My rig is:
    Gigabyte GA-8IPE1000Pro3 motherboard
    Pentium 4 2.8 800/512 @ 3.26 GHz
    2*512 MB Kingmax PC3700 RAM @ 466 MHz
    Leadtek Winfast A6600GT
Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 160 GB SATA HDD
    Enermax Noisetaker 425W PSU

      Re: 6600GT underperforming

I have exactly the same issues. I have upgraded from a 9800 pro, which had started artifacting, which ran everything on medium, AA 4x, textures and texture filtering on high. Now, with the 6600GT, I have to run everything on medium, with AA and dynamic lighting off. I am also not getting the performance I once did. Anyone know why?

        Re: 6600GT underperforming

I've been doing some reading & it seems that if you up the settings in BF2, like all on medium & 2xAA there seems to be a performacne gain!! I will try this later & post back.

I've tried the exact same settings, all I got was the above mentioned slideshow.
