My 3DMark05 Scores With New X850XT PE, Sound About Right?

    System:
    3.0 GHz P4, Hyperthreading, 800MHz FSB (3DMark Shows 200Mhz FSB, why???)
    2.0 Gb PC3200 2-3-2-6-1 Kingston HyperX Ram
    P4C800 Deluxe Motherboard
    ATI made X850XT Platinum Edition

First, My score with my old ATI 9800pro:

    CPU: 5% OC to 3.15Ghz
Processes: All unnecessary processes terminated except 2 of Norton's services that dont go away unless you disable the service and reboot. (Norton System Works 2005 has like 8 processes, 2 of which won't terminate)
    Score: 2724
BF2 Settings: I played with no AA or AF, Lighting and shadows on medium, rest on high, 1024x768. Gameplay was smooth 95% of the time. I would get unnacceptable FPS on the Iron Gator and on some 64 player games.

Testing with the new X850XT PE:

    CPU: No OC
Graphics Card: 540/587 (No Over Clock)

    CPU: 10% OC to 3.3GHz

    CPU: 10% OC to 3.3GHz

    Comments:
Well I spent just over $400 on this new graphics card and it has more than doubled my 3DMark05 Score, unfortuantely I dont think it has doubled the BF2 video quality. I was playing with all settings high and on 1600x1200 at first but I was getting choppyness whenever I moved the mouse quickly. I got the same things at lower settings as well until I did something to fix it, I dont really know what fixed it. I noticed that the box that says shaders are optimizing was not appearing after my changes to the video settings. Shaders were optimized eventually and I am guessing that is what made the choppyness go away but im not certain. Never the less, my FPS still varies around 30-50 depending on how graphics intesive the area is, 20FPS in the Iron Gator hull. This sounds low to me. I expected to be able to run pretty high settings and never get less than 50FPS.:hmm:

Why does 3DMark05 show that I have 200MHz FSB when I should have 800MHz? The people with higher 3DMark05 scores online show an 800MHz FSB.

4 x hyperthreading takes you to 800mhz but its not real, dont worry about your scores, you are cpu bottleneck'd, score is about right alltho a ilttle on the low side

A bit low. I get around 6000 with non OC'ed system of mine. As you can see from the sig that I have a step lower card than you.

So what kind of CPU do the people have who show 800MHz FSB in 3DMark05? Do you think upgrading my CPU to a 3.4GHz unit with the higher L1 and L2 cache that todays models have would help?

You have a faster CPU than I do. A 3500 is supposed to be equivalent to a 3.5GHz P4.

          Wow I have a A64 3200+ 1Gig Hyper X and an X800XT (AIW) that I paid $220 for and my score was a 5843. I would think a X850XT would outperform a X800XT AIW better than that

Wow, what a rip off. $400...your card should be getting more than 6k.

I bought my eVGA GeForce 7800 GT for about $310. Also bought a new system.

I've barely OCed my new system, actually just replaced my 4 sticks of 512 corsair xms ram with 2 sticks of 1024 corsair xms ram running @ 400 mhz in dual channel.

This upped my score from 7401 to 8203.

WOW is all I can say, those 4 sticks really did a number on my system.

All I can say is fool around with your settings (I don't know which since the only Radeon card I ever owned was the 7500 lol) etc, etc.

                    The processor is quad-pumped each 200MHZ, 200MHZ * 4.

don't feel bad, i have a 7800gtx (see specs for rest) and i'm only getting like 7700 when others with the same card get 8100+. makes no sense to me, could anyone suggest some drivers or anything. thanks

Are you guys not up to date on current computer tech? X850XT PE is the fastest AGP card there is, that is why the price is still high. Yes I could spend less on a PCIe card like the 7800 and get better performance but my computer doesn't have PCIe. Upgrading my Mboard, CPU, and my graphics card for a 7800 would cost much more than $400 and would take much much more time.

The difference between this X850XT PE and my 9800pro is that now I can turn on 4xAA and medium anisotropic filtering but I still have to put lighting, dynamic lighting, and dynamic shadows on medium. Putting them on high makes the game choppy and unplayable. What the hell?
