    Re: MI-28 vs Cobra

    MI-28 by far...

Imagine your a pilot taking on a Cobra, and both of you have 'new' (i'm being nice) gunners that either don't TV, or miss with it. If the 2 of you are going at it, which gun do you think will take the other helo down first?????

I'll agree, the Cobra is more agile, slimmer, etc...flies much nicer. But the Havok has 'the' gun, while the Cobra's gun amounts to not much more than a MP5 and some duct tape. You might be able to out manuever me, but the Havok's gun will have you down long before you can get away...

Now, with real gunners, I don't care which Helo I have, a good TV gunner negates any advantages by a better helo. My kill streak of 61 was on Wake Island, in the Z10, with a clanmate as pilot. Shot the Cobra down more times than I can remember :)

In your example using noob gunners, whichever pilot has the better rockets will ultimately win. In that case, the Cobra still prevails because its rocket firing angle is much narrower, making it easier to hit targets - especially ones that are close.

        Re: MI-28 vs Cobra

Before the last patch that ****ed up the Milk-me's missile, I considered them somewhat even.
The strategy to use was just different - stay wide with the cobra, get close with the Havoc if your TV misses, obviously because of the chaingun which can gun out the enemy pilot easily.
Now that the Milk-me's TV is borked, it's inferior to the cobra for me until the next patch.
I've always prefered the cobra for it's agility though.

TV missile pretty much solves the battle no matter what copter you're using. Rockets are always the easy way out, if your gunner is a blind retard but then you have to get closer. The gunners MG is good for finishing touches (=sinking the last 2 deadly bullets to a burning copter to "steal" the kills :)) in copter vs copter fight.

For air-to-ground combat, the doomsdaycannon of mi28 is the best although it is easier to hit the slower and larger copter (mi28) with an AT-missile. Overall, I think the copters are pretty well balanced in BF2. Both copters are fun to fly.

Also, the MI-28 is wider and therefore has a harder time shooting missles.

It wasn't a nerf to the Havoc's VIHRs ... it's a bug, acknowledged by the development team. They have it on the list of 1.2 potential fixes. Here's to hoping. Mi28 with working VIHR missiles > all vehicles (sans fighter jets).

The WZ-10 is the best, it's as agile as the cobra, and the chain gun WORKS against infantry.

Why do people always ignore everything from PLA? Like that sniper thread, only M95, M24 and SVD listed.

And for crying out load, the Havoc does not carry American AGM-114 hellfires, it carries Russian vihr missiles

Eh? I appreciate the Z-10's chaingun (especially for those short bursts to take out car drivers), but how is it as agile as the cobra?
I somehow had the impression it wasn't quite (still miles ahead of the Havoc of course)...

Actually, the only good thing about the Havoc is its turret. Good copilots are hard to come by these days.

Not only that, shooting a Havoc with TV missle is far easier than shooting down a Cobra.

I disagree that the WZ-10 is the best attack helo ... I'm sorry, but a chaingun (whether it's on the Cobra or the WZ-10) doesn't compare to the cannon on the Havoc. A cannon utilizing high-explosive shells with a large radius is generally more useful than a high-ROF gun which requires more precision to be effective vs. infantry and light vehicles. With the Havoc's gun, you don't particularly need an excellent gunner to be effective versus ground targets, whereas with both the WZ-10 and the Cobra you do.

I always felt that the WZ-10 felt like it had more ... I don't know, more weight to it, or more momentum, than the Cobra. It's very maneuverable, true - both of those helos are - but give me the Havoc over both of them any day of the week.
