Upgraded a really old box to play BF2 perfectly at 1600*1200 all med. settings no AA

Lol, I still had this old comp, AMD 1400, 512 MB SDRAM, and a Geforce 4000MX AGP in it. So, after thinking what to do with it. I started tuning the beast, lol. I needed a new GFX card for it: 6600GT AGP 256MB.

    What I did:

    - low level format of harddisk, disk is 7200 RPM ATA
    - installed windows xp
    - installed the tweaksrus G-Xtreme drivers
    - overclocked the cpu to an 1800 XP (1.53 GHZ)

And guess what, it ****ing runs at 1600*1200 all medium at 40-50 fps. And that is with only 512 MB of mem

    Think I need to laydown.

    Happy though.

    Cheers

Good job. Shows that you don't need to spend three grand/year to enjoy some goofing off time on the pc.

You are running SDRAM with that XP? Nice overclock, btw.

Ive got pretty much the exact same setup on one of my boxes.

                  Athlon 1600+
                  1 GB PC3200 DDR
                  Geforce 6600GT OC AGP8X

Runs fine at 1600x1200 all medium no AA.

Edit: Im not too familiar with th drivers you mentioned. Is it really worth it to install ?

Not really hard to believe. Here's an article that compares different processors, running with a good graphics card:
