    Controlling your 'chute

This is an amusing tip to me. Chances are it will rarely come of use. However, if you are the type to enjoy HALO jumps (That's High Altitude Low Opening, dont confuse it with opening high up) you'll find this very useful.

In skydiving, you actually have a LOT of control as to where you are going. But even better, you can control the speed of your fall as well, to a certain degree. Note, you have to fall for at least 15-20 seconds to note any effect.

To control your fall, all you have to do is look where you want to go. If you look straight down, you will fall straight down. If you look outwards parallel to the ground, you will actually start to glide forward. Also, you will fall faster if you are looking down than if you are looking up.

I've tested this out with a simple mod that allowed me to shoot a vehicle very very high up (To give an example, we fell for 2 minutes straight). Bailing out of the vehicle, we were easily able to orbit the vehicle, rise above it, go below it, and even reenter it.

The thing that makes this useful though is if you are able to get really really high, you can travel quite far. For example, on Gulf of Oman, at about 500 feet you can glide from the Construction Yard to the MEC base. This means if you're a HALO jumper, you dont need to get right over your target. It also means that if you're quick enough, you can spot enemies on the ground as they come into view and adjust your LZ so you dont fall directly on them. With enough practice I was able to control my fall and land directly in an alleyway and open my chute so close to the ground I never saw it deploy.

Of course, this also makes for great stunt footage for you moviemakers out there. Give it a whirl.

good tips, so if u look parallel to the ground (straight) then ull fall slower? will looking up make u go faster too?

I havent scientifically tested this out, but it seems the more you look down, the faster you fall. Also, the more you look outwards, the more you glide. Next time you're up really high, look at the horizon and you'll see yourself moving at a fairly good pace across the landscape.

              This is proven.

On many of our maps, we have freefalls of up to 3 minutes, and we can fly all around a car and get back in with ease. Once you learn how to do it, its easy.

Why not just put the exit location of a vehicle (stinger seems ok) about 90000 feet in the air? :P
I noticed that and we did some kind of formation flight

                      LMAO!!

I'm not sure anyone else got it!

I was thinking more along the lines of having a tough cellmate to look out for you.

I have a map with a spawn point 10km high...takes ~4-5 minutes to get down depending on what you do.

Thanks for the info. In movies and in-game I see guys that are in chute and in HALO position. They fall faster. How do you fall faster while on silk in the HALO position? Which keys? How to you get into HALO position while freefalling? Which keys? Thanks again.

Press W and youre going faster, S to go slower.
Mouse to turn, the rest is only a third person animation.
