CTD when trying to play Battlerecorder bf2demo file

I used to be able to view bf2demo files created by the BattleRecorder during last seasons 8v8 TWL league. Right around the 1.12 patch, I couldnt view them anymore and just took that as an incompatibility issue and erased those old demos.

Tonight - we had a preseason match on our own server with BR running. I've uploaded todays bf2demo files to my disk and they appear in my library *but* they show up in red text. When I try to load them, I get a flicker and a crash to desktop. Cant run them from BattleLauncher either.

I've done the obvious stuff, including installing the latest Catalyst drivers for my vid card but cant get them to play. Anybody know why those demos (recorded tonight) are showing up in red, what that even means and how to fix it??? Tried searching for help but most people seem to have trouble getting the files, not running them.

Running WinXP on a 2.2MHz processor, 1GB RAM, Radeon 9800 Pro (128MB) - any ideas would be very appreciated! 1/2

That is odd...it sounds EXACTLY like what happens when you try and play a demo file of an older version than your client.

Are you SURE that the date of the file is correct and you're actually playing the demo file you think you are?

    Check your files here:
    ..\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\Default\demos

Make sure the dates appear to be correct.

If you can actually play a game online, then we can safely assume that both you and the server are running the same version.

I know! Screwed up. For example, one of the recorded files is called:

      auto_2006_01_12_20_08_18.bf2demo

it seems more and more people are experiencing these kind of problems. I think DICE screwed up and made it so that some auto-record demos end up being corrupt.

I mean.. the red labels on the demos is proof enough that BF will not play them.

Yeah, that file name looks absolutely correct. Have you tried a demo from any other server?
