Patch 1.12
I have had BF2: vanilla for about a month now with no problems.
Once I installed patch 1.12 the game won't work.:wall:

This has been covered in other posts but any way, make sure ALL of your drivers are up to date, your os has all updates, make sure your have completely removed bf2 and demo if loaded BEFORE reloading. I had this EXACT problem and after trying all of the above MULTIPLE times I finally buckled down and did a complete os reload including reformating hd. Make sure you have all of you drivers, infs, etc before starting!!! After doing this extreme fix, my system has been running completely flawlessly. I have bf2, specops and 1.12 patch installed.
I know this is not what you want to hear but what would you rather do, continue to bang your head against the wall and not play bf2 or spend an afternoon doing a os reload and play the rest of the night!Comment

I restarted my computer and it worked.
I think other people would like the great info you guys just gave
